Wow. I can’t believe April is over already. Tomorrow begins the month of May which not only includes Mothers Day, Memorial Day, and my birthday but also this year it houses my Bahamas vacation! Can you say excited??
I thought I should explain where I got the idea to Spread Sunshine. I encounter a lot of interesting articles and blogs that I’d like to further comment on and share, but its not always feasible for me to do a whole blog on them. I find this is a good way to spotlight other blogs and to share with you guys.
How do I find the blogs? Well, I usually start by browsing someones blogroll. For instance if I go to Jess’s blog and I see what blogs she reads, I’ll check some of them out, and do the same to those sites. Its really a spider affect. It involves a lot of clicking! If I don’t find an interesting article on the first page of the blog, which usually has the most recent posts, I’ll move on to the next. I do try to post relatively recent articles for you guys. I’ve encoutered some great sites by doing this. So if you haven’t checked some of the pasts blogs I’ve recommended you definitely should.
Ok, so on with the show. Who’s HOT today?
1. Chrisette Michelle interview – I was able to listen to her album today, and well, its just freaking GREAT! ooOoOooHH I love when I anticpate an album and it actually lives up to my expectations. Yes, what a great feelig.
2. Beyonce Double Take - I want to send out a memo to this blog, it wasn’t Beyonce who decided to send a body double, it was a radio station that played a prank. It’s very important to find the whole story. I doubt Beyonce, who is very into how she is perceived by the media would do this. I mean come on, they edited Obsessed to fit into a softer rating for her fans!! Here is the original story.
3. Champs Creed – Same blog, different story. This was quite the laugh, you must check it out. Do you have any things that you live by that you’d want to share? I have a few.. Maybe I’ll post them on another day..
4. What’s in a Name – Especially a blog name. I wonder what the blog author would think of my blog name.

I walked into Nordstrom and was instantly called to this shoe. It was like I was drawn into a magnetic energy field and I couldn’t see anything else but the shoe. I held it, caressed it, and PUT IT DOWN! I am not allowed to buy any shoes besides flip-flops right now. I am going to stick to my shoe diet! But I’m telling you, it was like a bee to honey. These are Chinese Laundry’s Bounty Leather Sandal
And seriously, what’s not to like about this shoe? It’s leather, the heel is 4 1/14 inches, it zips to make for easy wearing, it has woven details AND it has platform. These shoes were made for me. I have a similar pair in a wedge from Bakers (hey! don’t judge me, its a recession!) but its just not the same.
These shoes come in 3 colors: black, brown, or camel. I prefer the camel to the other 2, but if someone bought me any pair I wouldn’t complain. While I originally saw them at Nordstrom, they unfortunately weren’t on their website to purchase there. However, you can find them at Zappos.com for $128.95. That’s decent price if you ask me. Or you can go directly to the Chinese Laundry site where they are $119, so you save $10. I don’t know what the cost of shipping is, but if your Zappos VIP you get FREE overnight shipping. (and who doesn’t love free?).

First there was anthrax.. then it was Bird Flu.. let’s not forget SARS and now we have Swine Flu. There is always some new viral outbreak to worry Americans and everyone else who’s willing to worry. Maybe I just think I’m so tough that I don’t really pay attention to this crap. Maybe its because I’m one of those young people who thinks they are invincible. Or because I just don’t believe the hype..
Either way, everyone is all up in turmoil about this damn Swine Flu. Now I admit, when I first heard the words I was like “welp, its good I don’t eat pork I guess!!” LOL. I know right, how wrong and ignorant. So to prevent other people from being ignorant, I want everyone to know this has NOTHING to do with actually eating pork. I read that places were removing pork from the shelves, one place even removed Turkey Bacon which isn’t even pork! I guess the word bacon began to carry a negative connotation.
I can tell you how to avoid spreading germs and it doesn’t include those ugly surgeons masks that Heidi & Spencer have been wearing around the internet. WASH YOUR FUCKING HANDS!! You don’t believe how many people don’t wash their hands or even use some hand sanitizer. Sheesh. Some peoples bodies are a breeding ground for germs. Also, if you are sick–Stay your ass home! No one wants to hear you coughing and sneezing at work all day anyway! Use a damn sick day. If you’ve used them all, you might have to take the loss because its not worth it for you to come in and infect the rest of the office (or school!). If you don’t have a job that gives you sick days, you need to step your game up!
But for those of you with real concerns over this other, more professional people, over at CNN have answered your Swine Flu questions, here were my top 3 Q & A’s:

Why are large numbers of people dying in Mexico, but not in other countries? (because Mexican health care sucks?? Why do you think everyone is trying to come to America??)
This is the big mystery doctors are trying to solve right now. Many infectious disease experts say it’s most likely a matter of numbers: with more illnesses in Mexico, there are also more deaths. Other explanations: that in Mexico people have, in addition to swine flu, other viruses that make for a more deadly combination than swine flu alone. It’s also possible that the virus infecting the rest of the world is a weaker version than the one in Mexico. Among the swine flu mysteries: Why only deaths in Mexico?

A new virus spreading quickly around the world. Young, healthy people struck dead in Mexico. Should we all be panicking?
“Absolutely not,” said Dr. William Schaffner, chairman of the department of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Swine flu, he said, “is not spreading all that rapidly. Take the St. Francis School in New York. There’s been very little transmission from the schoolchildren to family members, and it certainly hasn’t spread throughout Queens.”
But, Schaffner added, this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t pay attention to swine flu. “We should be alert, keep up with the information coming out daily, and take control by being attentive to your hygiene. Wash your hands very, very frequently and avoid people who are coughing and sneezing.” (DDDUUUHHH, did you really need someone to tell you that??)

Everyone went to see this movie to see how bad Beyonce’s acting would be, and any one who tells you differently is absolutely lying. Ok, maybe not everyone, because there were plenty of Beyonce stans in there going crazy, but definitely the majority. I would have simply waited for the bootleg DVD copy, but my friend is one of the latter so we had to go — on opening night at that. I wasn’t really happy with that, but I can say, I was pleasantly surprised with how mediocre her acting was. She wasn’t good, but she wasn’t overly horrible either. So that says a lot.
Plot: Truth be told, the plot wasn’t anything we haven’t seen before. Crazy woman sees unattainable (married) man and sets her sights on him. Of course, the girl needs very little leading on to know that she wants him. She fabricates a whole relationship in her head. Man doesn’t tell his wife, which makes the situation that much harder when the shit hits the fan. Its definitely a “Fatal Attraction.” And if I read one more comment about this movie being racist I’m going to die! Get over it, whats so wrong with showing a happy black couple? Why do black couples always have to be problem ridden? And yes, its very feasible to show a woman (who happens to be white) trying to get a man who is married. UGH get over it! ON with the review..
Now, I love me some Idris Elba, but I don’t feel like he was at his best in this role. He wasn’t strong when I wanted him to be strong. He yelled at the most inopportune moments. For the rest of the night I would randomly yell, “Bitch Breathe” because it was funny. He just didn’t know how to handle the sly temp. (Ali Larter). I will say that him & Beyonce had seemingly good on screen chemistry,although it was hard to believe Beyonce when she was being sex kittenish with him. The good thing was about him was that he went topless 2 times. I love a sexy, topless chocolate man.
Ali Larter needs to start eating again. She looked so much thinner than she did back in her Final Destination day. But she did the role of crazy very well. She knew who to ask the right questions to, and how to prey on peoples weaknesses, like the young babysitter. She was by far the most convincing character.
Bey. I’d say the worst thing about this film was the bad weave. Why? OF all the lace-fronts available did you find the one that looked like that? It reminded of the Beyonce weaves from the Survivor days. Her country accent was very strong at times. Or maybe it was her diction. It’s nothing that a GREAT acting coach can’t help you with. “You touched my chaild!!!” She did play the insecure role very well. She feared her husband would frolic around with yet another assistant since that’s how she came to be his wife. Idris had to spend time telling her that she was the only one for him. Funniest part was when the heckler behind me said, “I wonder if that’s what Jay is telling her now.” Instant laughs all over the theater.
The big ta-da was the fighting scene. And dammit this just took too long to get to. There was all this buildup and tension rising for a 3 minute fight scene. Where the hell did she learn to kick like that? Its hard to shed the image that we all have of Beyonce to see her doing this part believably. In order for me to believe this fighting Queen Bey would need to disappear off the face of the earth for about two years, and then come back doing a role like this.
And I was so ecstatic that there had been no Beyonce songs in this movie! That is until the very end when Smash Into you came on. But I guess she wasn’t going to go ALL movie without it. An that’s something you can do when you executive produce a movie. It was still longer than I expected to go without a song.
Overall, this is one of those good bad movies. The kind that makes you laugh when its not supposed to. I hope it doesn’t get a Razzie, because after all it did open at #1 in the box office with $28.5 million in sales! It’s not an F because I laughed but its definitely not an A.. it gets a C+, no Oscar nominations for this one!

GM is said to be cutting the Pontiac Line. I can’t believe this. I officially think the people over at GM are idiots! How can you cancel the Pontiac line, but keep them big ass gas guzzling SUVs? Grand Ams are some HOOTTT cars & the Grand Prix isn’t too shabby itself. I mean, come on, look at the body on that car. I wanted one of these so bad when they first released. *sigh* This guy I had a crush on in high school, he used to have one of these. He used to look so sexy driving it, and all the young girls (myself included) would idly lust after him in the way that only teenage girls can. I wonder what ever happened to him….
Now, this comes AFTER GM will received an additional 2 billion in funds on April 22. Who is running GM? They need to be removed from this sinking ship & replaced by someone who knows what the hell they are doing!! They made no attempts to make Pontiac cars more fuel efficient, which is something they must do with the federal funds. I mean, I know it cost money to experient with that, and the Pontiac branded from them being muscle cars. But I do believe the technology is out there to make an energy effecient powerful car. And since you are using my tax dollars (along with real Pontiac owners) I think they owe us at least a shot.
Can someone please someone tell me how Fuel efficient a Yukon is?
I’m not really into yoga, but one of my best friends is, so I can’t wait for her to hear about Bette Calman, an 83 year old yoga instructor. Yoga Granny can get into poses that my 20-something body can’t even fathom! Maybe I should get into yoga if it can keep me like this. I did always want to try Pilates though. Which one is better?
& no these are NOT camera tricks (at least to my knowledge).
According to the article, Bette was a pioneer of the regime in Australia in the 1950s, ran yoga centres for 33 years and made regular TV appearances in the 70s. She still teaches up to 11 classes a week and doesn’t plan on giving up any time soon. I’m sure she gets business just based on her being a novelty. I know I’d pay for a class just to see her do her thing. But I’d also be scared because what if that was the day her wrist gave out? I mean its great that she can do these things, but even the most viral old people have injuries. Her body is young, but her bones are still old. I’m just saying..
This may be mean, but I find her face hard to look into for long periods of time. I feel like her eyes are piercing through my soul.

I saw some pictures of Beyonce rocking these shoes over the weekend looking just as great as she can. So I ran to my best friend Google to find out what the name of them were, and where could I find a cheap knock off them. They are the Louis Vuitton Spicy Sandal, and they are absolutely FAB!
When I searched images of them, I also saw that my girl crush Amber Rose was rocking them in Paris with her john boy, Kanye West. I think she’s wearing them well in this shot. I need to see the rest of the outfit for a total approval, but damn those shoes are HOT!
Also seen in this shoe was Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham was rocking them. This color combination is my least favorite. I feel like it makes the shoe look too jumbled…
I’m having some serious shoe envy right now. I knew they would cost big money when I saw Beyonce in them, and word on the street is that these Louis Vuitton sandals retail from about 1500-$3,000!! We all know that’s waaayyy out of my price range.. Can someone send Jessica Simpson or Steve Madden a DM & tell them to hurry with a cute knock-off?? These shoes have a 4.5-inch platform and they come in six different styles.
The Dating scene is just really shitty bad these days (or so I’ve heard). I think I’m a pretty cool date, I don’t really expect a guy to drop crazy bucks on me during an encounter, because let’s face it, this investment might not work out in your favor. Also, guys are even more unwilling to spend money these days because of the “recession.” But there are some cardinal dating sins that should be avoided and you can’t even blame them on the recession because there are plenty recession proof good dates out there. I expect hope for a good time when we go out, especially if you’ve been trying to persuade me to go out with you for a few weeks. this should be your chance to show me why I shouldn’t have waited so long. So these are some things you shouldn’t do on a date.. and if you don’t already know these things please take note.
Please be on time. If I’m a girl and I’m pressed for time (which means I’m running late) and I still make it there before you, that is a problem. I never like to be anywhere before the person I’m meeting. I guess I like to make an entrance.
Friends. Some dates are group dates. Before you bring your friends around someone you’re trying to impress please do a thorough screening. Please make sure all friends dress appropriately.
Projects + Date = Disaster. Sometimes for a date you want to invite someone over for dinner. You cook a meal, they bring the wine, or whatever, and you chill. This should preferably happen at your house, not that of your friends who live in the projects with 2 big ass dogs and their mama sleep in the back room. If you or your friends live in the projects, don’t bring a girl there. Now I’m not discriminating on the projects, they serve their purpose in that they give people “affordable” housing. But they do NOT make a suitable place for dates under any circumstances.
Please ensure safe transportation of your date back to their destination. If they drove separately, walk them to their car and make sure they call you when they get home if its late or they’ve had a drink (or 3). If they came to you in NYC please make sure they get to the subway/train station because odds are they aren’t from NY and don’t know where the hell they are..
I didn’t know what I was signing up for when I entered the dating world. I miss the days where spending quality time together was at the school cafeteria, and he bought you a snapple so you didn’t have to drink the warm chocolate milk. Or even when he came to your dorm room and you guys hung out downloading music just to hear songs you both never heard. How did it get to the state it is now? There really is no warning for this, you really do have to feel your way around. Does anyone else have any ingredients that make a bad day? Please share! (I know I might be back with more later!)

For those that don’t know a music crush is when I think someone’s music is totally dope & want to hear all of it! Some of my current and former music crushes include: Kanye West, Teedra Moses, Beyonce (at one point in time, god I was young! lol), Maroon 5, Lupe Fiasco, Vivian Green, & Raheem Devaughn to just name a few.
My music crush is Kid Cudi. I had heard of Kid Cudi a few months ago, my friend was all in hoopla over the song Day & Night ft. Jim Jones. Since I hate everything Jim Jones I refused to listen, but then later I heard Day & Night without him (Jones) and I loved it. But, I still didn’t pay Cudi too much attention. Then I was browsing online and someone said they can’t stop listening to his song, “Dat New New” so I gave that a listen, and liked it.
As I was doing my random scope for new music I came across this A Kid Named Cudi mixtape produced by Plain Pat & Emile and decided to give it a listen since I saw that his official album hadn’t dropped yet. I’m only about 10 songs in and I’m freaking in love. I love it. I love the whole vibe of it, its not too serious. He’s not trying to twist your mind up. The production is dope. I hope the rest of the mixtape continues in this fashion.
Now I realize I’m late as hell in the discovery of this mixtape but that doesn’t take away from the fact that I find it abundant in awesomeness. I mean his song Day & Night makes me want to consider a life of lonely stoner-ism. If you can make that sound appealing, then your good in my book!
I feel bad for being resistent for all this time. I had saw all these people following him on Twitter, but I refused to do so. And I had heard all these rumors about him saying he was retiring after one album so he had all these negative connotations in my head. I don’t really care what he does in his personal life as long as he makes good music. So keep doing your thing Kid Cudi musically & you won’t let me down. (And FYI I still won’t follow him on Twitter).
