Tru Blood Soda, would you drink it?

July 30, 2009

No one loves True Blood as much as me..

But would I actually drink Tru Blood? Probably NOT …

especially since it’s going to be hitting stores near us for $16. Yup, 16 bucks for a 4 pack. NO, its not reallllyyy synthetic blood, its a carbonated drink that’s “slightly tart and lightly sweet” that is “sure to taste better than the O negative consumed by the show’s fictional vampires.”

So, is it going to be like thick and icky like I imagine the real Tru Blood is? What does this say about us that we want to emulate fictional vampires? I mean, ha ha, marketing genius but seriously, did anyone think of these questions? Or did they really give them a serious thought? I love novelty items, as long as they aren’t edible.

Fashion Friday: Christian Louboutin brings the heat!

July 24, 2009

Killer Shoe Alert

Christian Louboutin Galaxy Shoe

One day, I will have the luxury of having the red sole, but for now we can all lust over this HOT metallic Galaxy pump from the Fall 2009 Christian Louboutin collection.  I don’t even have words to describe it besides (insert Dylan voice) HOT Fire! The combination of gold, black & silver works so well even though you traditionally think it wouldn’t. It’s shoe-fection!

I love, love, love peep toe. These are hot enough to be dressed up/down/sideways and across. I need to head to Atlantic city so I can’t try to win some money so I can mail order these.

Fashion Friday Continues: Christian Dior Fall 2009 spotlight

HOT SHOE ALERT!

christian dior fall collection 2009

Christian Dior is killing the Fall 2009 styles with these shoes. I love how the heel reminds me of the tusk shape. These were my favorite from the collection.  I think I love the grey so much because I have so many black shoes. I love the bootie concept and the cutouts. While it may seem like a lot, I can imagine me rocking these: Black shirt, blue jeans, these shoes. H.O.T. After all, the key to rockin a shoe like this is to keep it simple so the shoe steals the spot light. While these won’t make my wardrobe this fall, I will be searching for a close resemblence (aka department store knock-off).

More can be found here:  NEW Shoe Blog!

I think I have new favorite site to check out. Shoes make my heart skip a beat I tell you!

Fashion Friday: Jimmy Choo joins H&M for a shoe-venture!

Maybe this is old news to some, but in case you didn’t know like myself,  Jimmy Choo and H&M ( Hennes & Mauritz )have partnered to bring his flavor to over 200 H&M stores beginning in November. JC isn’t the first super star designer to bring their duds to a retailer more of us can afford; Vera Wang partnered with Kohl’s a few years ago and Isaac  Mizrahi sells at Target. JC is going to be bringing us shoes ranging from $58-138 dollars, which is pretty dope since his shoes retail usually for over $400.  This is definitely a huge market for these type of designers. And  personally I think it challenges their design skills, because now they have to design every day clothes for the every day woman. Not rich bitches and skinny gals!

I think this is fucking totally awesome. Have you seen the shoes at h&m? They are pure generic trash. Seriously, their shoes are worse than Payless!

If Jimmy can bring me a cheaper version of these caged pumps in red (HELL YEA!!) I’ll be loyal forever!

Fashion Friday!!!!!!

So apparently all I could think of has been shoes, shoes & more shoes. So today is dedicated to all things shoes & fashion. Will this be a recurring theme? Not quite totally sure at this point because my fashion senses aren’t tingled every week, but for now pull up a seat and enjoy Fashion Friday :)

Chris Brown is sorry, in case you missed it!

July 23, 2009

Dear Chris Brown,

I don’t care if anyone else accepts your apology. I do. I feel that no matter what you tried to do to rectify the situation, at any period in time, you were going to face criticism and possible further backlash. I am placing no blame on either you or Rihanna (although I do not think she’s completely guilt free) for what happened in that car. I know that only you two know what really happened. I believe if you did hit her, which you don’t deny, it was with probably cause. I firmly believe that if a woman hits a man, she should expect to get hit back. It’s playground rules, you get punched–punch back.

Sorry, but I digress. I think your apology was well versed and done well. People may outcry over the “scripting” of it, but I know that it needed to be that way. Anyone who believes that any sort of speech isn’t scripted is special and doesn’t deserve their comment voiced.

I hope that you can get past this and continue on your musical journey. I wish you well, and hope that you destroy that weird MJ tribue shirt you were wearing. It was more of an eyesore than the standard lawyers office blinds in the background of the video.

GL,

Cleo.

********

I know CB will never read this cuz I’m just a little old blog in blogville. But let’s go on the hope that he seeks out a letter from a not crazed 13 year old, then maybe I might get read… just maybe!

Beyond D.W.B – a look at Henry Louis Gates, Jr.

****UPDATE****

This cop is a STRAIGHT asshole!! I love how he’s not a racist, but the most recent incident he can remember was in 19 fucking 93!! Anyone who can say “oh I helped a black person then” or “i’m  not racist I’ve got a black friend” is seriously some what of a racist. UGGGGHHH!!! arsehole! OH, and he said he will  NEVER apologize

CNN link

****  END update****

I’ve been away for the past few days, so I’m just now getting to discuss the arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr. Does everyone know who he is? If you don’t I’m going to suggest you use your Google function quickly! Skip over the recent news articles and find a quick bio, ok!

I don’t really need to get into what happened because most people know by now that Professor Gates was arrested at home after a cop reported to his home for a possible burglary.  I think it’s a sad shame that we really don’t live in a post racial US, but to anyone who that’s a surprise to, they need a wake up call.

Gates was arrested for disorderly conduct — what the arresting officer described as “loud and tumultuous behavior in a public space.” I’m sorry, I thought home was private? Since when did someone’s home become a public space? And why did the cop feel the need to arrest him after he showed ID that that was indeed his home? What was the point of continuing questioning after you had verifiable proof that this was the homeowner? This is why so many people share the epitome that cops suck. They really do. They go on serious power trips. They make the few good cops look bad.

Gates was quoted as saying

“We depend on the police-I’m glad that this lady called 911. I hope right now if someone is breaking into my house she’s calling 911 and the police will come! I just don’t want to be arrested for being black at home! I think this was a bit of an extreme reaction.”

The cop refused to show his identification and escalated a hostile situation. He got arrogant and Gates got defensive. It happens many many times with cops. It really sucks that the cop won’t even apologize. I despise people who can’t admit their wrongs. It’s so unattractive. Just admit officer, your a po po in the well known racist area surrounding Cambridge, Massachusetts. You saw an opportunity to exercise the power of the blue shield & used it. UGH.. lemme go on..

I think I’m more upset about some of the comments and things I’ve read on sites like Detroit Free Press and others.  Some posters wonder why you would ever question or get snarky with a cop (I didn’t know cops had the right to be bastards???). One poster said he hopes his home really does get robbed, things of that nature. His case is up opening up dialogues about racial  profiling and affirmative action. I love to hear dialogue about subjects like this from knowledgeable sources. But when people begin to make blanket statements like “there’s money for blacks to go to college just for being black” I want to jump through my computer screen and smack that person. I hate when people say that black people are given jobs just because of AA. What fucking world do people live in?

Right now the biggest people profiting from Affirmative action are Hispanics. I really do see it AND  believe it. Many under barely qualified people are getting jobs just because they can speak two languages. I’m a firm believer that to survive in America you need to speak English. Im sick of getting sent 2 copies of every damn document because people refuse to learn it. It may sound crude or whatever, but hey it’s how I feel.

Back on track, if  blacks were given priority then why do they have the highest rates of being being laid off in these “hard economic times?” I don’t believe any person of minority – of any minority- who says they’ve never been stereotyped. It does still happen. I witness it more often than I’d like. I don’t even have to time address this foolishness. I’m going to go watch my recorded Black in America 2 w/ Soledad O’Brien.

Reality TV vs. Bloggers, is this a war?

July 16, 2009

Last night I was flipping through the channels and came across an episode of The Wendy Williams show. I love Wendy, I think she’s great, however on her show she had someone named NeNe from Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta. I don’t watch that show, so I really didn’t know who she was.

I thought she was amusing until she went on to speak negatively about bloggers. I took offense as I am considered a “blogger.” While her advice is true, you shouldn’t believe everything you read, she needs to NOT clump all bloggers into the same category. I do not consider myself a celebrity blogger and if I was, you being on reality TV does NOT qualify you as a celebrity.  You should be flattered that someone took enough interest to write about you. All celebrities should. You should remember that fans keep you in your beloved status. Without fans you would be the next has been. Does this mean people should write defamatory comments? No, but it does come at the price of fame. Blame the public for being so concerned with how the “untouchables” live.  I wish the paparazzi era would end. Frankly, I have no interest in posting pictures and stuff from events I’ve never set foot on and probably won’t any time soon.

I found it quite amusing that someone who’s 15 minutes come from forging fake friendships on TV had the nerve to say that. Reality TV is a fake as it gets. She could have said, don’t believe what you read on some gossip sites. Maybe I’m just sensitive, but I still was offended. It’s not just her though, its a lot of people. But damn, reality tv folks need to just calm their asses down!!

Thank you Subway!!!

July 14, 2009

I think that we all really do owe Subway a big thank you (and not just for those hilarious commercials!)  even if we don’t eat their food. Personally I’m not a big Subway fan, its more of a last resort, however their $5 Footlongs are making food more affordable again. Even if you don’t eat out, or really eat fast food often, you have to admit that each time you go to do it you look at the menu prices and think that damn these things have gotten hella expensive?  Well, if they keep this us, it can only benefit us!

For awhile, Subway was the lone company offering such a deal. I mean, in reality its not the best deal since chips and a soda are extra money, but the idea of a  big sandwich for so cheap went a long way. People felt like they were getting a deal since the sandwich itself was sooo cheap. In that time, I’m sure the pockets of these other companies felt the burn…but now its finally paying off in the hand of the lazy consumers! Yay us!!

Arby’s is now offering a $5 BBQ Bacon roast Burger. Now I have never eaten at an Arby’s nor do I eat beef, but it starts with one meal then others will follow!

Annnnd the other day I saw a commercial for KFC having a $5 fill-up box. Now this is an idea I can get down with since for some reason every time I go to visit my grandmother I end up eating KFC on the drive down. I however, would never let my mouth rest on that horribleness they call grilled chicken. I tend to stick to twister wraps and chicken tenders. Great Stuff! I also love me some Quizno’s! Haven’t had the chance to try it yet, but they have these new Toasty Torpedoes that should be good, I mean how can you go wrong at Quizno’s? I happen to love their expensive Chopped Salads, well the ones that don’t have bacon or beef or pork.

The sad part is that none of this food that is becoming more affordable isn’t really the best food for us. I mean, sure we can try to justify Subway by saying, “well Jarred did it” but the more mayo and cheese and other glop you put on it makes your dreams of achieving success on the subway diet slightly unattainable. And anyone who thinks they can get healthy eating KFC often has bigger problems than weight loss, its called denial. While yes this is a good step for consumers, let’s not really forget who’s interest are at heart here!

Fab Summer Nail Polish & Make-up!!

July 9, 2009

When I read this post over at Fab Glance Nashville (did I tell you I’m jealous they won tickets to Maxwell in NYC??? Not because I have a dying desire to see Maxwell, but dammit I just want to win something!!!), I knew I was going to post about it. How could I NOT? I just got my  nails painted bright summer pink! And I absolutely LOVE nail polish… on my natural nails. But lately I’ve been wearing some tips and usually that I only do French manicures or some other neutral color. But I decided to be different. When I’m Au Naturale I rock different colors on each hand or even alternate fingers, so why should now be different? I consider my nails an expression of my individuality while I conform to the confines of the professional world. Do you? I mean how else can I be in a world where neutral colors reigns supreme? I’m young dammit and I intend to show it. I wish I was better w/ Photoshop so you could avoid being forced to see  crap around my hands, LOL! Do you love?

pink nail polish

I also wanted to talk about how I found the absolute perfect lip gloss for the summer in Cover Girl Wet Slicks  Fruit Spritzers-I admit, I didn’t believe the hype, but its sooo good! It smells good, it looks good, and best of all its not sticky!AND!!! I found a dope bronzer. It’s so light and airy that I love it. It’s by Physician’s Formula, its their Organic line. I had another one by PF, but I broke it one day carrying a whole bunch of crap to my car. I will get another one for night wear, but for daily wear, this is IT!! So consider this Cleo’s summer make-up guide! Quick Gloss and bronzer and that’s all you need.

Bye Lovers!!!

Spreading Sunshine 7/7/09

July 7, 2009

Hey Lovers!

It’s been awhile since I spread some love out in the world, but all is well because I’m back at it! I hope this entertains you, because it has to entertain me in traffic court today.  Enjoy!

1. Hate your boss or job? This makes the cut because I can relate. Bosses who micro-manage the most menial bullcrap & how that can sometimes cause you to check out. I also have a few close friends who can dig this! (Thx! to The Goodie Bag!!)

2. High Fashion? Sometimes I don’t get it. Don’t get me wrong, I am a mini fashionista, but first and foremost I am a budgetista. I need my clothes to be cute 7 affordable, and if it can double from work to play, EVEN BETTER!! I don’t get what seems to be the high fashion rule, it seems that if it makes the runway it is completely unwearable in actual day to day life. Some of this ish… IDK, what do you think?      (Fashion with a Side of Life)

3.  Stop Sleeping on Jersey! Despite what everyone says, Jersey is a great state. Don’t let movies mislead you, in fact a helluva lot of movies are filmed here in Jersey, or make reference to Jersey. It always happens, hell in Tranformers 2 they made their way to Jersey. See what I mean!!

New Jersey Don't Love YOU!

New Jersey Don't Love YOU!

We don’t love them hoes! LOL

These tees were designed by a local (local to me is the Monmouth County Central Jersey area) NJ DJ/ entrepreneur.

OK, that’s it for today!

*Muah*

**BONUS**

I don’t have a link for this, but did anyone, I mean annyyyooonneee really get the gist of why the hell Sarah Palin was resigning? Her whole speech was just one big run on sentence. And who really cares, its mutha-fudge-phucking Alaska. I inferred from it that she maybe preparing for a Senate Run and others propse its for 2012. I can care less what it is, I really want her to fall off the media radar and give up the analogies. In case she didn’t get the memo Palin, your analogies suck! Tina Fey, please reprise your role!!!! I mean, this lady really writes her own jokes…

Funny YouTube Videos

July 6, 2009

Because I’m easily amused, along with half the world, you must watch these videos and laugh! I’m highly sure that you will at least get a good chuckle if not a true LOL!

From Candys Rayne

This is a fictional portrayal of a meeting between India Aire and (I swear this woman captures my soul ) Erykah Badu. Apparently it made the rounds on Twitter over the weekend, but I wasn’t heavy in the world of tweets this weekend due to the holiday. I love this little text to speech cartoons. Very Very amusing!

From Dirty Whorelebrity News

Ever wondered what really makes a good F.W.B relationship? Well here are the rules to Casual Sex, LOL. No I do NOT endorse it, but we can’t pretend it doesn’t happen. We all have a friend or know a friend of a friend who’s a loose booty or a loose dick. And sometimes people need to know the rules (I’m just saying, Steve McNair, you shoulda kept that temp in her role and maybe we could continue to have your presence here on earth).

Hope you laugh like I did!

Cleo Reviews: Sims 3 – my ultimate distraction

July 2, 2009

OK. I am so sorry for the lack of posts, I blame it on The Sims 3. Ever since I got that game I have been glued to it! It’s so bad, I even travel with it! I have it installed on my laptop and on a desktop at Mr. B’s house. Bad..

So being that I’ve spent so much time getting attached to this game – its been a month already- I can give you my quick review. I wish I knew how to make those cute Youtube Sim videos to give you an idea of my Sims. They are adorable. Well, besides that one funny looking daughter (we’ll just ignore her today! LOL).

Pros:

It’s really true, your Sims really can do so much more than they could before.  I can go catch a movie at the theater in town. I can go on date to a restaurant without the loading screens, which is probably the biggest and best upgrade. I also have a little control over what they do at work. I can make my Sim slack off, work hard, chat with co-workers or suck up to their boss. Another cool thing is when your Sims are exercising their free will, they actually do things they need to do. They won’t read when they have to pee.

OH, and you can now place things caddy corner. You could never do that before. For some items in buy mode you have greater flexibility in making them custom, and you can make your furniture match if your that creative.

You can have leftovers! I know, how cool!! And the sims get mad if you waste good food. It has a negative impact on their mood! HA! And you can grow your own food. Gardening is a vital resource for Sims!

Cons:

I don’t like the rotating option sometimes. In the past you could scroll over to another part of the lot by moving your mouse over, now you can’t. You can rotate around a central point, usually a Sim.

This is sort of a pro and a con – you have to individually buy items for all your recipes AND your bookshelves. It’s cool to be able to buy books, but you can no longer just click on a bookshelf and study mechanical, cooking, or cleaning. Depending on the attributes you’ve set for your sim they may come with an introductory book, but not fully stocked. And with shopping. Not only do you  have to pick the food, which is cool, but you have to drag and drop it to the fridge. This task is pretty hard on laptop sometimes. I’ve found a stray apple or onion on the floor occasionally.

Also.. I could NOT get my Sims to get married. The propose marriage option never came up, not even after 3 kids! What the hell kinda 2009-family breakdown shit is this?? I got illegitimates all up and through!! Work on it EA!
