Thanksgiving really falls at the best time of year for giving Thanks if you ask me. I mean, it is in the 11th hour of the year that has just past. It offers the perfect chance to reflect on your year and offer you the chance to be thankful. What am I thankful for this year.
- I’m thankful for my grandmother. She’s more like my mother. I wish she knew how grateful I really am for her.
- I’m thankful for the opportunities that have been given to me. I truly am blessed to be where I am, instead of where I could have been
- I’m thankful for my positive attitude. I’m thankful that I have been blessed with the ability to put on a smile when inside I’m in turmoil. Smiles make the world a better place.
- I’m thankful for the amazing people in my life. Some new, some old, and some I’ve never actually “met”. People indeed come in your life for a reason.
- I’m thankful for the chance to grow every day and discover new things about myself and the world.
I’m learning and trying to adapt a life that is absent of complaining. I know that’s hard, but even in my moments of complaints I know that I am truly blessed. I don’t have the ability to take anything for granted. I hope everyone is thankful for something on this Thanksgiving.

It was a shoe sign from above. Like when the heavens open up and the light gleams down on that must have item type of sign.
A sporadic trip to DSW introduced me to the Zigi SoHo … Can you say 6 inch heel and 2 inch platform. NUDE lace!!! OMG I’m in love love LOVE! Then it was told to me Zigi SoHo has a store right in NYC .. in you guessed it: SOHO!!! (for all you non-NY’ers, that means South of Houston {house-ton, not Houston like Texas}).
Can I say I cannot wait to wear these! I mean, look at them in the store! Can you imagine them with skinny jeans? I tried them on again when I got home with jeggings (#dontjudge) and a brown turtleneck and I liked it, a LOT!
Can you see the buzzer on the shoe lol. The price was RIGHT on these shoes too. Allegedly they retail for $90, but were 69.95 at DSW and I was the lucky coupon holder for $15 off. (Please note I took this pics on my blackberry WHILE on the phone lol)
I happened to be on the phone with @Jess_Dubb while perusing the aisles of DSW and I made her Google these shoes when I walked up on them. Even before I tweeted the pictures she said get them. She knew that once I had the shoe on my foot it was over. I mean, when you try on the shoe, its so hard to walk away. I kid you not, I have never been able to walk away from a shoe after I’ve tried it on and loved them. IDK, shoe shopping is the only shopping that always has a positive reward and isn’t emotionally exhausting, like shopping for the PERFECT pair of jeans. DSW makes it easy because the shoes are on the floor, there is no waiting for a sales clerk to dig through the barracks of shoes to bring you a shoe that may not fit perfectly. Anywho …
This is what I do with shoes when I get home:
* I’m swooning * If you don’t have a DSW near you, you can also locate MJM shoes, its the same type of store with similar discounts. I am a frequent bargain shopper and I make no qualms about it! I have no shame in asking a sales girl if there is a sale or potential coupon. I will wait a few weeks for a sale ( as you know from my previous blog post about my addiction to retail!!!)

SO.. the other day I had the brilliant idea for my future son’s name. In the past I was absolutely in love withe name Quincy or Quinton (I wanted him to be called Q and be HOT like Omar Epps in Love & Basketball LMAO). But last night I decided (unless my future husband in against it) that I want my son to be named after my uncles. I do want a junior as well, so if my husband is able to convince me to have multiples then I can use both. My uncles names are Glenn Tracy and Spencer Eric. Now of course that is four names and I wont use all four, so I’m thinking my child’s name will be Glenn Eric or Eric Glenn. I love the name Glenn, even though we call him Uncle Tracy. Growing up he had a motto, “If you swole, say you swole,” for when you had an attitude and wanted to pretend things were OK. He’s lived in Utah for the past like ten years – I know right, who lives in Utah???My uncle Eric, he has passed away. He was just a silly man, all my family calls him Eggie (because he had an egg head) and I love the relationship he had with my grandmother. He was always there to do things for her around the house when no one else was. So I told my grandmother my idea and she said, “Oh really, when you going to get started?” and I had to tell her she at LEAST 5 years to go and I need to find this future husband first. #goodtimes.

When does someone deserve a second chance? These last few days I began to think of an answer to this questions. I would think that someone would have excelled so well the first time that one would be willing to overlook a minor misstep and allow them a second chance to finish what they started? Right?
Or did you give them a second chance just because, well this was their first time messing up? But then there would be no “finals” in a sense. You know, if everyone got a second chance.
Sometimes you just have to accept that second chances should be the exception and not the rule and not everyone is entitled to one. Yes, it sounds good in theory that everyone deserves a second chance, but I meanreally? Do they? I don’t mean the proverbial, he paid his debt to society and should be released from prison and given a second chance at life type situation but a real life common situation, like a matter of the heart.. is every suitor worthy of a second chance?

So.. I reached a point where its time to break up with my phone. I will gladly admit that I’m addicted to my phone and its always within reach.. But after this weekend, I realize maybe I shouldn’t gladly admit that.

The Event:
A slip and fall in the shower that resulted in bruising of my arm and a broken towel rack. Blackberry was ringing and I wanted to see who it was. Part of this anxiousness to see who it was, was due to the fact I was hoping it was a certain gentleman caller (it was not). So not only did I still answer the phone after the slip – while hanging half out the tub- it wasn’t a fully gratifying conversation. So now, I not only have no where to hang my towels my arms are still sore.
#fail . And I wasn’t home alone so there are people to bear witness to the tragedy of my clumsiness.
Moral of the story. Cut back on my blackberry obsession. Usually I don’t take it in the bathroom with me, and maybe there’s good reason.
Anyone else with a seemingly similar phone #fail?
