Bag Lady, you gone hurt yo’ back!

January 6, 2012

So .. I ‘ve always had an affinity for crossbody bags. I LOVE them. But then they were hard to find for awhile, or at least nice ones in my price range. but my love has rekindled after the purchase of my Lauren cross body bag this summer.  I love the bag I had for the summer, the Lauren by Ralph Lauren Java Bag (picture). I like this bag because it contours with your body. I remember seeing my coworker with it (in a diffrent print) and being in AWE, like OMG where did you get it! I stalked this bag. It was regularly priced at $248. I paid $78 when I purchased just by waiting a few weeks and stalking the Bloomingdales website. Then free shipping to my house? Say word? My friend was soo jealous when I told her my steal since she paid full price!  #SCORE! I LOVE it. I feel sooo chic yet comfy when I adorn it. It’s also VERY VERY VERY roomy. I’ve fit so much inside. I do hope to find another bag, preferably in solid color though.  So I was browsing online looking at some and her are the ones I enjoy! I would love each and everyone one of these equally :)

Coach Madison Leather Hailey. First off, its purple!!! * swoons * I am not a purple fanatic, but it does have a certain air of regalness to it. And its on sale! Sale is my BFF for LIFE. Our bond can never be severed! I don’t care what ANYONE says about Coach, a nice bag is a nice bag. I do hate when Coach bags have the label all over them or are that weird sateen material. But I  guess I hate that with any brand. This is a nice moderately price bag. Its reg priced at 228 and on sale for 171 at Macys. BOOM! I am on a search to find this at my local Macys. Lucky for me, I live near two Macys !! It also comes in black/silver and a nice brown walnut color.

I like the next bag because of the flap. This is the Tory Burch Amanda crossbody. I like the fact that it folds over, so no worry about spillage. Usually I have an aversion to flaps (in all senses * wink * ) however, too often it happens to me that I throw my bag in the passenger seat and the contents spill onto the seat and/or floor. Booo!! That’s also why zippers and pockets are important in a bag! that is my one complaint about LongChamp Le Pliage bags, there are no pockets inside. And the one pocket it does have doesn’t button or zip shut, so whatever you put in there ends up with the various items in the bottom of the bag.  While a great, versatile bag, its definitely an openspace for all my items to forage together. Anywho, back to this bag.  I don’t like the size of this bag though. There are certain things I need in life, and a large bag is one. I always need to be able to throw in my Ipad, my to-go cosmetics bag, possibly a folder full of papers for my mentees, and who knows what else. I’m definitely a bag lady. I have tried working on this, but I always fail.  My compromise was to put things inside my bag into little bags (i.e. cosmetic bags and a ziploc bag full of pens) but it always gets disorganized again eventually.

Now we have a Marc Jacobs bag  reporting for duty! Isn’t it adorable!!! OMG LOVE LOVE LVOE LOVE LVOE LVEO. OK. you get the point right? I like that this bag is convertable and that the shoulder strap isn’t atrocious! I love that it comes in multiple colors on the Bloomingdales’ site. I can’t remember the name of  teh bag right now, but I love that its so BIG!  Seeing where this bag falls on the hip I like it even more. I hate when a crossbody bag doesn’t hit just right. This bag This bag is also around $400 (same as Tory Burch) but its larger, so I probably wouldn’t feel as guilty about it. Decisions, Decisions.

I don’t know, 400 would be the most I’d have spent on a bag, EVER in life. I just came to terms with spending $200-300. Quality over quantity has been my motto in life. I remember being younger and having several cheap bags vs. 1-3 nice ones. I’ve had cheap faux leather bags from H&M, New York &  Company and even Target. You use heavily for a few weeks and they start to peel.  Not so cool as an adult with a whole full-time job.

Also, the Michael Kors Jet Set Bag. I saw this bag in the MK store around Christmas time and my friend wanted it as a gift. I love it! It was reasonable priced, has nice gold accents such as chains in the handles. Aand it also converts. However, it isn’t available on the MK website. It was back ordered. I also confused it for the Hamilton bag. And what does that say about a bag if I get it confused with another? Things that make you go hmmm. I do love the MK gold accessories, they give it some pizazz. But it is a little boxier than I normall would go for.

Fashion Friday 12.2.2011 :Kitty’s Meet N’ Tweet

December 2, 2011

Bubbly, Nail Polish, Jewelry and Treats were abundant at the Kitty Bradshaw Meet N’ Tweet event Tuesday. And what’s NOT to love about such things? What is a Meet N’ Tweet? It’s an opportunity to get together in one room with various bloggers and vendors to view items and discuss and network. What’s the one thing that benefits you in every field, NETWORKING!!! I was able to meet for the first time @mysdee and the ladies @shoshi and @OsoChic again.

I love events where people can come showcase their talents without trying to sell you items, and that’s exactly what this was. Kitty did a great job bringing together a variety of bloggers to experience different brands and/or services. So this event was great for me.

Why was this great you ask? So, as you guys know I’ve been a bit of a slacker for longer than I’d like to admit with blogging, and this kind of gave me some extra motivation of why I started doing it to begin with. No, not the meeting and the tweeting, but the following your passions! So many of the speakers were small business owners who were doing what they loved;  making jewelry ( @Accessoryremix) spa services (www.bbraxton.com) baking ( @tasty_morsels) and technology ( @nrelate). Writing was/ is my passion and I need to get back to basics!

Now, onto the stuff! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG So… I had heard recently of Squeem ( @Squeem) and that they were the Who’s Who among shapewear, so needless to say I was thrilled to see it in the gift bag. I received the perfect waist shapewear and wore it yesterday. OMG LOVE IT. It feels weird at first to the touch.  Before reading closely I said, “hhmmm this feels like a rubber tire.” Lo and Behold Rubber is one of the materials used, but not in an offensive way. Awesomeness. I wore my Squeem with my Hanes Hosiery. FYI I live for tights and dresses and boots in autumn and winter. Black opaque tights are a hot commodity and very hard to find good quality #score! They were so warm yesterday! If you know nothing else about me, you know that I LOVE nail polish and nail art. It seriously is a hobby and passion. My nail polish colletion has grown exponentionaly over the past year or so. Soooo imagine my delight when there were CND Nail polishes! CND is known for their Shellac manicure and pedicure services but of course you need special equipment for that. I immediatelly went home and tried on the polish and it was amazing. The last thing I’ve tried so far was the CoverGirl  Queen Collection Lipstick. While the color I received looks awful on me (IMO) the formula was very smooth and I liked it. Some lipgloss is very matte but this had shine and made my lips look luscious and kissable!

So that’s all the beauty products. I also went and added the Nrelate plug in to my site. I’m excited to see how that works out. I wasn’t able to mention everyone because I wanted to talk about the things I actually tried out. But I am looking forward to trying out my eyeliner from Pencil Me in Cosmetics as well as the Emergen-C. I also recommended the B Braxton salon to a student who wanted to do something nice for her husband!

I love Gold baby!

October 27, 2010

One thing I happen to love is nail polish!

I don’t know when it came over me, but I do now. I’ve even taken my own nail polish with me to get manicures. My latest find: O.P.I Only Gold For Me top coat. When I first saw it in Sephora, I wasn’t sure how I’d like it. but then I put a coat on over my electric blue nail polish and LOVED it. I immediately knew I wanted to go home and apply it over O.P.I’s Black Onyx polish I had. The results:

Here they are 2 days later, slightly chipped, but not as chipped as they usually are after 2 days.

I’m sold. I even did my toes to match.

I think this color is going to rock out for the next few weeks. And I NEVER wear red nail polish, but I’m imaginging this over red nails for the office holiday party.

Fashion Fix :: Kenneth Cole

August 16, 2010

The first thing I did when I saw these shoes in the Kenneth Cole store on Saturday was take a picture and tweet, “I need these in life”.

It’s true. They are essential to a fall/winter wardrobe. If I save hard enough I can afford the $295 price tag … I’m going to hope for a sale. Things are sooo much better on sale!

Kenneth Cole Talk Tough

These feature Kenneth Cole’s 9-2-5 (too much to explain, but its supposed to make them uber comfortable.. Perfect for all day wear). They have a 4″ heel, 1″ platform, and an 8″ shaft.. wait .. wait .. mmm .. I’m drooling just thinking of my winter in these boots. Must Haves!

Fashion Fix: Raphael Young

August 9, 2010

So … it’s been a while since I’ve done a shoe post … and these are THE perfect way to bring back shoes .. I low-key love fall because 1. the weather is awesome when its not raining because its not so humid. I love the brisk air in autumn .. and I LOOVVEE cute boots! In case you need a refresher, some of the MUST have for me in shoes are platform, 4 inch heels, and FUNKY! I love something that’s just a little different, after all shoes can make or break an outfit!

Meet Raphael Young’s Autumn/Winter collection.  I don’t know who this Paris based designer is, but I am into it. He has a big fall collection too, but here are my 3 favs.

1. If I could wear thigh highs, these would be MINE. I’m freaking drooling! Platform: CHECK. 4 inch + heel : CHECK … *drool*

2. Me + these boots + straight leg jeans= PERFECTION. I neeeeeeeeeeeedd these .. more than I need to pay rent in September. #imjustsaying. The ONLY thing that could make me LOVE this shoe more would be if it had a rugged sole, almost cleat like .. it’d be  wrap from there …

3. Blue? Ya’ll know I love blue (despite the bright pink background). I love this bootie (my 2nd favorite shoe style). I’m looking for a bootie to add to the rotation this winter. These shall do JUSSTTTTTTT fine!

Here is where you can  check the rest of the collection online. I have no info on how to purchase or pricing yet, because their website is still on the way. They have an email contact, but I don’t know if I’m ready to take that leap yet into emailing them. But oh my I sure would!

The ‘IT’ Accessory is the perfect manicure!!

May 28, 2010

Is this better than a Minx manicure?? Minx mani’s have been all the rage, or so I’ve heard since I’ve never gotten one. But now CND wants to Shellac your nails! That’s right kids, Shellac is no longer just for wood, you can use it on your nails!!

I am all about the home manicure. I used to be the girl who went to the salon and had my nails done every 2-3 weeks with the acrylic crap. But 1. It was costly and 2. it damaged the hell out of my natural nails. (this just goes to show that natural everything is better for the body -like natural hair IMO). But every once in a blue moon I like to go to the salon for a manicure. There’s something about letting them do all the cuticle work thats relaxing. And they massage the hell out of my hands.  The only thing is the polish doesn’t last any longer than if I did it myself at home. Bummer.

So anyway, WK forwarded me this article about the Shellac Manicure. This thing sounds pretty cool, its a manicure (non-acrylic) that can last for 2 weeks. TWO WEEKS!! Sounds good, right. Except it cost about $40. o_O

I’m sorry. Opie cost 7.99 and who cares if I have to reapply every night. But it just sounds so cool. I want to try it at least once just to see if it really lasts.  CND is the brand who makes the polish, and I can’t say I’ve ever heard of them. I’m more of an Opie & Essie girl. The lady who wrote the article says of the Shellac manicure:

The Shellac manicure is completely unique and revolutionary. Have you ever gotten a manicure and then reached for your keys and ruined it? Have you ever gotten your nails done for an event the next day, and had your manicure chip before the festivities begin? Have you ever painted your nails before bed and woken up with sheet marks in them? Have you ever gotten busted at work for trying to redo your nails? Personally, I can say “yes” to all of these things, which is why I’m completely smitten with Shellac, the manicure that requires no drying time and lasts two weeks with no issues whatsoever.

They also only have about 12 colors right now, and none of them are wow’ing me. Check out the Yahoo! Shine article for pictures of it and the color spectrum!

Fashion Friday: 5.21.10 : birthday edition

Today is my birthday .. so these are things on my birthday wish  list. In an ideal world,  I’d be rocking this stuff and not wishing about it.

P!NK covered the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine rocking this HOT dress.

pink cover cosmo magazine gucci dress summer 2010

Of course when I saw it, I twitpic’d it and someone, I wanna say @Bleakey told me it was a Gucci dress. So I searched for the Spring & Summer Gucci collections and found the dress:

gucci embellished summer 2010 dress

I think I’ve previously blogged those Gucci shoes , but I think P!NK rocked the dress better than the model, the model gives this dress no shape. I want this dress. I love the edginess of it.

Fashion Friday: 3.4.10 – Score for the Wallets!!

March 5, 2010

So, anyone who knows me knows that my two favorite things are sales .. and even bigger sales. I believe that anything is worth buying on sale and if you really want something you should try to find it for cheap. Only true emergencies call for full price purchases… Does this make me cheap or fiscally responsible? I’m still working that one out.

If you were to ever meet me (for those who haven’t) and perhaps tell me that “Oh, those shoes are cute!!” I might respond, “Yeess!! and I got them on sale @ _____ store” It’s a bad habit. I can’t help it and it won’t stop soon. What that also means is that I spend plenty of time hitting the pavement (aka the internets) searching for good deals. LoW and Behold! These hot promotional codes I found on Savings.com for Shoes.com . HEAVEN! Shoes.com had these BOMB Guess boots I’d been eying for awhile, the Guess Buster boot…  AND several other boots I find myself pining over. I know its March and boot season is almost over, but I’m just so over my BCBGirls boots. I feel like I’ve over-worn them and need to move on AND now is the BEST time to buy boots. Out of season sales are THE best!

I was hoping they’d have the Nine West Ivonnie boot I tried on at Macy’s this weekend, but no such luck. Either way, these free coupons rock. I didn’t have to sign up for anything or even provide any information. I just clicked and BOMM coupons galore! Me + Sales and Discounts = perfect match. I kid you not. What I like more than sales? FREE … but no cute shoes ever came to me for free only ones from my grandmother.

This site is coming in handy for me since I have not one but TWO baby showers to go to next weekend. I need some Babies R’ Us coupons like YESTERDAY!! How dare my friends do this to me. Horrible. But Savings.com makes it easy to search for all the different stores, and they even had a printable coupon I could take to the store. Love it.

This post was brought to you by your friends at Savings.com

Fashion Friday: 2.5.10 – Pasquale Fabrizio

SO, apparently a girl really can have her glass slipper. It’s just going to cost her 7,500 dollars!!!!!!!
glass shoe Pasquale Fabrizio murano glass
Pasquale Fabrizio, who is this UBER talented “shoe cobbler to the stars” has designed these glass slippers. I have never heard of Pasquale, probably since I’m not a star, but according to laweekly.com

He once built a three-legged monster costume for two 300-pound wrestlers. He fashioned a steel brace for the shared third leg, so that one wrestler standing inside the suit wouldn’t crush the other’s foot. He built up the calves of Angelina Jolie’s Jimmy Choo boots in Mr. & Mrs. Smith to make them thigh-high, and he swapped out the heels — 80 pairs at a time — so she could run around comfortably during stunts. He duplicated Muhammad Ali’s Everlasts — down to the tassels — for Will Smith, then, as Smith wore out their rubber soles from hours of practice in the ring, he resoled them. When Frank Darabont, the director of The Green Mile, needed the squeak removed from a pair of boots, Fabrizio came through … and did so again when Darabont changed his mind and wanted the squeak returned. One regular customer even implored Fabrizio to fix a Jacuzzi cover. The dog had chewed it.

WTH is Murano glass  you ask (because I did) its some super secret Italian way of making glass!! According to wiki, most Murano glass art is made using the lampworking technique. The glass is made from silica which becomes liquid at high temperatures. As the glass passes from a liquid to a solid state, there is an interval when the glass is soft before it hardens completely. This is when the glass-master can shape the material.

I’m not a 100% fan of the shoe, because I don’t like the thin strap across the front, but that heel design is TTIIGGGHTTT and I love the gold beads and ankle strap. BOMB!! Not that I have 7,500 to be spending on them anyway!

Fashion Friday: 1.08.10 : Fashion Clutch

January 8, 2010

Maybe the name Patricia Field isn’t a household name for you ( it definitely isn’t for me!) but you may have seen her purse in some released photos from the upcoming Sex and the City 2 move? maybe?

patricia field keith haring clutch
Well, Patricia Field for Keith Haring (*insert confused face*) has a line of limited edition plastic magazine clutches. I love them! I think they are soooo cute and fun and bright. What better way to dress up a dull work wardrobe!

Cost: 80 bucks
Hotness: 4 outta 5 stars

***Update***

I had no idea who Keith Haring was (hence the inserted confused face), but my homegirl Tamiah hit me and let me know Keith Haring was an artist from the 80′s who created that look. He died in the 1990The crawling baby was his signature. See, we learn something new all the time! And I guess I could have Wikipedia’d him before posting, but learning this way was much more effective!

Fashion Friday: 1.08.10: Fendi Baby!

In the back of my closet there is (and don’t judge me) a pair of Lucite heels .. they didn’t cost nearly as much as this Fendi pair of heels, so imagine my shock when I saw stripper shoes could be so damn expensive.

FENDI plexi lucite wrap sandal khaki
These Fendi Khaki colored wrap /  platform sandals are making my heart melt. that 2 inch platform takes some practice to walk on, its not for the weak. Trust me! And the heel, is listed at six inches. UM.. WHAT?? Nina Garcia says you shouldn’t go over 4. I break that rule often, but SIX?? I’ll eye from afar.

The FF logo is on the lucite platorm, and they will cost you $1553. Wow.
