The Heel Story

October 16, 2008

Shoes! Shoes! and More Shoes! Ok.. So I had heard about the DSquared fashion show where the models took off their shoes because the heels were ridiculously high and I laughed because I thought of how on America’s Next Top Model Tyra Banks is always talking about the walk and gives the girls the craziest walking contest. Sometimes in 5 inch heels with a 2 inch platform a size too small, so I guess Dan & Dan watched those episodes. Anyshoe, at that same fashion show the lightning bolt heel made its debut. And I love it!! Absolutely FAB! I would so rock these if they were more in my price range! The detailing is just how I like it. A little bit of Wow to surprise people.

So keeping up with these surprisingly different heel’s, I saw that Madonna wore these shoes to the premiere of “Filth & Wisdom” for which she is an executive producer. Now, I’m all for creative expression, but handguns for heels? Wow. Is she telling us she’s a member of NRA? I just don’t get this. They look too bulky for my taste and just wrong. the shoe itself isn’t really that flattering. And they are Chanel! CHANEL! Let me say it again like Biden, CHANEL! I don’t like the front, with the open toe or the platform. And I love peep toe, LOVE IT! But this is just all wrong. Sorry Madonna.

Disaster Strikes!

October 3, 2008

W hen bad things happen to shoes its never a pretty sight.

Here I was this morning thinking of how I have a nice amount of winter shoes.  But boy was I wrong. I’m at work when my cheap ass Bakers boots broke (AGAIN!).  So, since I was now down one good pair of shoes I decided to do some shoe shopping online. Black boots are essential to a winter wardrobe, so I had to replace mine with the quickness. On my search I found this disaster. OMG. I almost cried because this is just shoe torture! Brand = J.Shoes, Motto: Do the Jay Walk. LOL. Model:  TARA. Do the Jay Walk is a cute slogan/motto, but these shoes are just an abomination. And they have the nerve to be discounted at $126! So, I did a search for their shoes, and they are all FUGLY! Just straight up WRONG! Some things should never be done to shoes. Damn.. I’m just sad now!

Flashback: Balenciaga Lego Shoes

October 1, 2008

This shoe made its debut at the Balenciaga Fall/Spring fashion week 2007. I got the idea to feature a “flashback” shoe from talking to my bestest when I told her I was doing shoe research for my blog, LOL. I don’t know the official name of this show, so we’ll just say the LEGO shoe. Worn here with this ugly grey sock, they are just wrong, wrong, WRONG! Why would you wear this gorgeous shoe with with track pants and sweat socks? The were worn in a much better fashion by Beyonce at the American Music Awards a few months ago. Her jeans are awesome, the jacket tight, and she wore the shoes perfectly. It’s all in the detailing, and she shows how a shoe can really pull an outfit together. It doesn’t matter if I’m a part-time Beyonce groupie or not, she wore them well (see below). Yes I like Beyonce when she’s not trying too hard and she’s really singing and not half rapping trying to be “pop”. Anyshooe, even Kanye West thinks these shoes are hot and he can be somewhat of a Diva, LOL.

This shoe has recently been replicated in the Bakers Shoes catalog and by Steve Madden. I know that I can’t afford some Balenciaga’s any time soon, but they are a dream that I won’t sell short by getting a knockoff. Sometimes its just better to have the real thing, even if its only in a fantasy. They feature all the primary colors! Do you know how cool primary colors are? Do you know how cool legos are/were. Do kids still play with legos? And they even have the little Lego men who you put in the planes or at the tops of the buildings. I used to play with my cousins legos all the time. I wasn’t super creative, but I had fun building forts and downs from the different blocks. Those were the good old days of toys. Now if it isn’t violent or based on a movie or television show it doesn’t matter.

An Old Friend

September 24, 2008

When you find a good pair of shoes you should love them.  Care for them.  In fact, you should buy two pair! LOL.  I had this pair last spring and I loved them so much that I wore them out. I mean wore them OUT! I tried to get the nice suede material cleaned, but it wasn’t the same.  So, I did what any shoe lover would do-bought a new pair.   This is why I love the internet, because I would have had to search store after store after store after warehouse to try to find these shoes, let alone in my size since they were from last season. I had to first find out the shoe name, because I didn’t even know it. I just knew the brand, so I searched and searched. Then I searched for them in the desired color. I finally found them AND they were cheap, which they should have been since they were last seasons shoes.  I got them for a whooping $25.34 and then 6.00 for shipping. Which I consider a great deal since they were much more than that before I wore them out, LOL. This is the Tribeca Prime Suspect shoe and he is being re-introduced into my closet with his other “friends.” In the past I might not have been so resourceful, I would have searched and searched for a comprable shoe, but no more.  And why should I? I like new shoes as much as the next girl (probably more) but I also love the shoes that I have.  And as I get older, I am definitely pickier and choosier with the shoes I buy.  And I like them so much more for that, which is why I invest in keeping them.  Getting those little things on the bottom replaced or repairing a scuff is an absolute must with shoes you love.  It’s worth it, trust me.

Essential Boot

September 20, 2008

Wellington Boots. I didn’t even know what they were called, I used to refer to them as rain boots, but now that I know their name I can talk about them.   I used to hate these boots.  They came out of nowhere and then they  were everywhere in the blink of an eye.  But now, after so many bouts with cold wet feet, I see the essentialness of them and have said I can’t wait to find myself a pair.  I can’t believe I made such a drastic turn around, the next thing you know I’ll be saying how the UGG boot is cool and cute (someone stop me if I ever get there, but you get my drift). My dilemma is that each and every time I find a cute pair of these boots, they don’t fit around the logs I am forced to call calves. This depresses me because these are a shoe/boot that you can be super creative and cutesy with.  No one is going to object to you having butterflies and hearts on your cute  plastic rain boot, but if you had a coat with all that, you might be ridiculed.  I am desperate to find some to fit me with fall fast approaching and we all know that fall equals rain.  Winter also equals rain (and snow!).  I will not stand for wet pants legs anymore.  Take a stand for dry pant legs all around and help me find these boots with a wide calf!!! It is essential that it fit loosely over the  calf because your jeans and pants should tuck into the boot, not drape over them.

Nine West, Elegy.

September 4, 2008

Remember back when Tim Allen had that show Home Improvement and his show inside the show was called “Tool Time?” And Al was his co-star.  I never watch Home Improvement on Nick @ Nite because I’m upset they don’t show A Different World but I do sometimes watch Family Matters… and maybe Roseanne.  I love  Roseanne’s family’s white trash-ness. She loves it.  I love it because that was a real white family from the midwest-they weren’t all wholesome or cheesy.  They had real fights and real issues. Granted some characters were extremes (Sandra Bernhardt’s Nancy) but they dealt with real personalities in my opinion.

I don’t want to bore you with memories of my Nick @ Nite adventures, I wanted to show the world my newest shoe obsession.  In case you didn’t read about SLASSSH by Steve Madden I am an admitted shoe whore.  I can’t help it.  I try to not shop and stay away but they find me.  I am in love with these boots by Nine West, called Elegy.  Now, I think I mentioned how I have logs for calves so to find a boot that comes up to my calves AND zips up is a feat.  So I actually took the time to measure the area around my calves and see if it was OK with this boot.  And it is. So now i want them even more.  In this beautiful gray color because black looks too biker chick for me.  And while I love to look as biker chick as the next girl, I do have my limits.  Now, the ones I want I have found online for around $100 even though I found the black ones for $35 I still want the grey.  If anyone knows of a place where I can find them for cheaper let me know.  For now, they’ll stay on my wish list because I’m placing myself on a strict.. I mean STRICT budget for the next few months… and when I saw strict I mean it!!!!

An introduction is necessary: Slasssh

August 26, 2008

I don’t know if everyone knows, but I have an addiction: to shoes.  Preferably, heels that are 4 inches or better.  Three and a half is nice, but four is wonderful.  Anyway, once upon a time in a land I call “internet heaven” I purchased a pair of shoes from Steve Madden online.  Ever since then they email me with new arrivals and clearance sales and the likes.  So when I checked the email today, I saw that they have these shoes available for pre-order.  I introduce you to SLASSSH.  At first I was like wtf, and open toe boot. but the more I looked at them I saw the potential – Me, in a skirt showing a little leg, hair blowing in the wind.  Oh yes, it was magic.  OH, and I love the platform look in my heels, its a necessity.  Makes for much more comfortable shoe wear.  I also love a low boot because I have HUGE calves, so it is hard to find boots that will fit over the logs I call legs.  Damn me for having perfectly sized feet, LOL!!! Now, I don’t believe in paying full price for anything.  So I will NOT be pre-ordering anything.  I will wait and see if they get sent to Macys and take advantage of my nice coupons or when Steve email’s me some new coupons for 10-20% off.  I love SLASSSH but I love my sisters Sale and Clearance even more.  So guys, these are on my wish list along with a few other choice shoes.
