Mike & Nia: Super Sad News

April 6, 2010

I woke up Sunday morning to a friends very sad Facebook status update. When I asked him what was wrong, he texted me information regarding these two young people. Mike was a member of his fraternity and he knew Nia through him. These senseless acts of violence are saddening. Later in the day I ran into several other people who knew the couple and they all were deeply devastated. I didn’t know them, and I was devastated. Death is never something easy to cope with, but when it happens to TWO young people with their lives ahead of them, it hits so close to home. I think EVERYONE can be touched by this story.
I grabbed this Essence Article from KittyBradshaw.com and I hope that you can take the time http://www.lovemikenia.com/. If you can donate, even if it’s $1, please do.

On April 3, a young couple was returning home from their engagement party and parking their new Honda CR-V, in Jersey City, New Jersey, when they were approached by two women and a man, who shot them both twice in the head, according to authorities.

Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said that the motive for these senseless murders was robbery and carjacking. Nia Haqq and Michael Muchioki were found dead near their car on Randolph Avenue in Jersey City.

Muchioki was a software engineer in Jersey City and Haqq was an associate producer for an affiliate of Nickelodeon in New York.

The suspects took Haqq’s engagement ring, Muchioki’s wallet, the pairs’ cell phones and the gift cards they had received at the engagement party, held at Delta’s Soulfood restaurant in New Brunswick, New Jersey, authorities say.

We had the opportunity to speak with Haqq’s best friend and maid-of-honor in her upcoming wedding, who would prefer to be called simply “Ty” at this time, as the murder case is still open. Ty shared with ESSENCE.com exclusive images of her best friend and her fiance, as well as a few tender memories of the two.

See exclusive images of the New Jersey couple here.

Friends describe the couple as inseparable, telling us that the two always traveled together. She was by his side at most of his black and gold Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity functions. Muchioki’s fraternity brothers have already created a website for the couple with over 2,000 views. The site proclaims their relationship “is the definition of love.”

Muchiokis’ friends remember him as the type who would often go the extra mile to lend a hand to someone in need. They also describe his great sense of humor; he would regularly update his Twitter account with funny quotes for his followers on the social media site. Haqq, we are told by her maid-of-honor, was the life of the party. Ty says she will miss speaking to Haqq every morning on G-chat. “She would always welcome me with a positive message,” shares her friend.

Muchioki’s funeral will be held on Friday, April 9 at Monumental Baptist Church in Jersey City at 10 a.m. Haqq’s funeral arrangements have not been confirmed.

Oprah Speaks out to the Rihanna’s of the world

March 10, 2009

Oprah. The Big O. She’s a role model to many and an inspiration to others. Oprah has so much media power that its unbelievable, but does she always use it the way she should? I have not commented, nor will I now, on the Rihanna & Chris Brown situation. But Oprah has decided to speak out for Rihanna & will dedicate a show this week to domestic violence. This is the same Oprah who had R.Kelly at the Chicago premier of The Color Purple.

This is my gripe. So many radio stations, VJays, DJ’s and others are blasting Chris Brown. They are taking down his music, ripping his endorsements, and pretty much all around bashing him. There was not this kind of lashing out with R. Kelly from the media. And in my opinion (which for some may not be anything) what Kelly did was so much worse than Chris Brown. I mean, he was caught on tape, with an underage girl, pissing on her. It then came out that he paid money to a witness, but yet the community still embraces him. After R. Kelly’s accusations he was nominated for a damn NAACP Image Award!

I don’t watch Oprah for the most part because her I’m not her shows target demographic, but I do know she isn’t kind to the “urban” hip-hop male. And its such a shame, because there are some good dudes out there, and hip hop culture is now POP culture. What message are you sending to young teenagers if you make it seem OK to frolic with rapists? Should you speak out against Domestic Violence? YES. Should you also speak out against pedophilia, HELL YES. Almost everything out there in the news regarding Chris Brown & Rihanna is speculation and her side. He has not spoken up, and even if he does it won’t change public opinion because whenever a man hits a woman he’s automatically a deviant. Should it change things, possibly. But Oprah, as a journalist and media maven, should have waited for ALL the facts before addressing Rihanna and “all the Rihannas of the world.” Chris Brown is in court less than a month after the incident, but Kelly’s trial was ongoing since 2002???? I can’t be the only person out there who sees this as a problem. I just don’t believe it

Review: My Bloody Valentine

January 22, 2009

So, with all the movies I want to see I ended up at the movies on Saturday seeing my bloody valentine because my friend saw everything else.  MBV is a 3-D Slasher film, however we weren’t able to see it in 3-d we had to settle for regular.  If a movie is released in 3d all theaters should have to honor that.  But I digress.. Here is my review, I will try not to spoil it for everyone… too much..

The only person I recognized fully in this was the guy Kerr Smith, who was on Dawson’s Creek and he was on Charmed, so he stood out.  All the others had faces that looked familiar, but I couldn’t place. Although the main character was definitely sexy, his voice was yummy! LOL! Lots of gore in this movie, from the very beginning.  This is where they give the initial action that leads to the course of events 10 years later.  They definitely should have developed this more, spent maybe another 15 minutes on it or something.  There are some loopholes here. Why did Harry Warren go biserk? What led to the initial Valentine’s Day Massacre? What Harry Warden did was insane! I was gripping my seat like ” Oh no he DIDN”T!” But I’d still like to know why, that loophole bothers me.  But Slasher movies come with  many loopholes, they are not known for seriously strong plots.  Oh, did I mentions this was a remake, I didn’t know that until I IMDB’ed it, which lets you know of course that as with The Day the Earth Stood Still I did not see the original.  Ok. So basically something tragic happens and fast forward ten years later something else tragic happens which is what the movie is about.

This film is Rated R… guess what, there is some full frontal nudity… I was SHOCKED.  I was not expecting that, hell I hadn’t even heard of this movie until it was suggested. Homegirl fights the killer -NUDE! Why do all killers have to have a one piece uniform/mask-think Michael Myers in his button up or zip up thing… and think Jason in his overalls… why do they follow this formula.  I mean, in this movie I guess it works because you aren’t sure who the killer is, but Jason & Mike have been killed like 42 thousand times… what gives?

OK, back to the review without giving too much up… Basically this film follows most of the standard slasher film rules-confused girl over who the killer is, lots of gore, twist at the end.  But it works.. and it works well.  I did not meet one person who saw it this weekend who said it was bad.  Must be the 3d! Check it out and tell me what you thought of it..

Granny Got a Gun: Part II

January 7, 2009

Old people are not playing when it comes to protecting themselves. I guess they figure that someone’s got to do it… A few months ago I posted about Leda Smith from PA who apprehended a burglar in her home. She held him at gunpoint and made HIM call the police. Leda must have called her girl Sandra in Michigan and told her to get one in case she gets robbed because Sandra did the same damn thing.

Sandra was home on Sunday night splitting wood for her fire and making vegetable soup when she heard ruckus (her words not mine, I swear. I say fuckery not ruckus) outside. When she heard the ruckus, which included footsteps around her yard and deck, she grabbed her gun and called 911. A few minutes later Cyrus Brown bust through her Patio door. Apparently his car hit a utility pole and he then decided to break in? What happened to knocking and asking to use the phone. That’s what usually happens, well not anymore because you can still get shot doing that. Sandra said, “Immediately, I felt there was danger because he was so desperate.” I have never met a non-desperate robber, well i don’t know any robbers, but I assume you have to be to break into someones home. Or just plain trifling. Sandra, feeling this danger from this desperate man told him to get down on the floor, and if he came any closer she would shoot to kill. She also wanted to see his hands at all times. Is she a retired cop? Or was her hubby? They have the 911 recording out there where you can here her demanding him to get down. Granny 2 wasn’t playing. She said forget to injure you, I’m going to kill your ass.

Sandra was really happy to have had a gun because she heard about people dying in their own homes, but she wasn’t trying to go out like that. However, apparently she hurt her poor little aged heart. All the excitement has landed her in the hospital. So I wonder if she can sue him for damages? Why didn’t he turn around and run when he saw her gun?

I can imagine Sandra in the hospital getting daps from her girls. They are all like “You go girrrrlll.” My favorite quote of the article was her friend, “Don’t mess with the gray haired people! We still got a lot of fight in us.” CLASSIC!

New Jersey Drivers: Driving with RAGE

December 31, 2008

I really am scared for what awaits people in 2009.  I say this because people aren’t nearly as nice, forgiving, or even understanding as they once were-myself included.  Everyone is driven by money, rage, or sex.

Two crazy things happened to me over the past two days, and I’ve only left my house about 4 times this week.  So that means a lot to me.  And I  know that sometimes I’m in my own world but these things just happened in too close of succession. The first bares no need to be mentioned in lengthy detail, but the end result was a store (KRAUZER’S DELI) called the policia on me because he gave me the wrong change.  Now, I didn’t realize it until maybe an hour later, soI went back to try and rectify the situation.  The young man decided to call the cops vs. calling his manager to handle the situation. The cops come, and after a few minutes of debate he gives me my money. why would he rather call the police than the manager? I don’t know.  Why did he feel a 5’5 girl in fingerless gloves was a threat? I don’t know.  I didn’t go in there screaming and yelling in an ignorant manner either.  I stated the facts, which could have been verified by counting the register.  This story is just the catalyst for my feelings.

Today, I’m driving back to the store (yes, the same deli) to get some newspaper to wrap my dishes for my impending move. So on my drive I get stuck in little bit of traffic.  At one point the traffic moves about 3 feet.  I did not let my foot off the break to move 3 feet when there are about 25 cars between me and the light.  So the car behind me beeps out of aggravation for being 2 feet further away from their destination.  So, in my wtf are you thinking mode I flip them the bird.  Jersey drivers know that one of the standards of driving here is being able to have a quick bird finger, LOL. Said driver flashes me a few times in broad daylight.  So I continue on my quest to get my papers.   When I pulled into the parking lot at the deli the car swings around the corner into the parking lot too and pulls up near my driver side window.  She rolls down her window and just starts yapping, so I roll my down out of courtesy for what she has to say.  She proceeds to tell me i didn’t have to give her the finger.  I say to her

“It’s not that serious it was 3 feet.  You can ruin your brakes continually stop and releasing but I’m ok. ”

Her: “it doesn’t matter.  I’m trying to be nice about this, someone else would come and snatch you out the car.”

ME: “well it obviously does matter if you felt the need to drive over here and tell me.”

So after she continues to verbally assault me, I roll my window back up while she’s talking, eventually she gets the point and drives away.  Now, I know that sometimes I can be an asshole especially when provoked.  I probably shouldn’t have given her the finger, but I don’t take kindly to being beeped at for no reason.  If  I was driving recklessly, by all means beep at me. But for not moving 3 feet-lady relax.  But this all got me thinking about just how mean. selfish, and even intolerable people are these days.

It used to be a thing where it was people who lived in bigger cities had a certain edge to them, but I’m starting to feel that even people in not so big cities are being driven to the edge.  I mean over the holidays we heard so many stories of rage, deceit, robbery, and murder.  HELLO! A man dressed as Santa shot up a house and set it on fire.  These are definitely signs of  troubled times! Is there a way to help people realize that you can be skeptical and cautious of others with compromising your manners and common courtesies? By no means am I saying that I am the paradigm of civility, because I get tired of being nice to people who don’t deserve it at work.  But I do try to be  nice to all the people I encounter-the gas station attendants, pharmacists clerks, and food servers.  Even if that person isn’t up to my personal standards of good customer service, I find no need to be rude unless provoked.  Hopefully 2009 is a better year for peoples communication skills, but honestly is that possible? Less money is in circulation these days, and less money means less happy people.  :(

Marriage upheld to 8 yr. old girl . . .

December 24, 2008

This is very disturbing. A Saudi man arranged for his 8-year-old daughter to marry a 47-year-old man to settle his debts. I always thought fathers were overprotective of their daughters? The girl’s mother petitioned to have the marriage annulled but the judge, Sheikh Habib Abdallah al-Habib, dismissed it due to her not being the legal guardian of the girl! Are you seriously kidding me??? Does it really matter who is the custodial parent? This is endangerment of a child. The father should be faulted for what he did. I know I’m looking at this from an American’s point of view, but this is just wrong no matter what country. This is ok’ing pedophilia.

The judge asked the man for a pledge not to consummate the marriage until the girl reaches puberty. So, basically by then he will be over fifty and she’ll still be a teenager-which still makes it super wrong. It doesn’t make it better if she’s 14 and he’s 53. And who will be ensuring that he keeps up his end of the pledge? Will there be regular medical examinations to ensure her hymen is untouched? And this doesn’t mean that he won’t force her to “lick the lollipop.” She is like his own little slave/indentured servant. The judge also said that when the girl reaches puberty she can petition for a divorce with the court. Now, by no means am I an expert in Middle Eastern relations but women aren’t exactly treated to equal rights. So the likelihood of her petition being approved will more than likely be slim. In addition to that, she might be socialized by that time to appreciate what he has to offer, a sort of Stockholm syndrome. Stockholm syndrome is a psychological response in a hostage situation in which the hostage shows signs of loyalty to the hostage-taker, regardless of the danger (or at least risk) in which they have been placed. And basically in this case, she is a form of a hostage. It is also common in other types of abuse, such as the victims of domestic abuse, battered partners and child abuse (dependent children). In many instances the victims choose to remain loyal to their abuser, and choose not to leave him or her, even when they are offered a safe placement in foster homes or safe houses. This is really really bothering me.. blasphemy…

Man loses job & kills his boss..

December 15, 2008

Every month we read about thousands of jobs being lost in this crazy economy, which was recently announced as an actual recession.  As if we didn’t already know.  This just goes to show that the government really feels that its people are idiots.  And well, some of us are.. I like to think I’m not.  But I digress, pretty soon we are going to see more direct results of the job losses, like this guy in Vancouver.  Benjamin David Banky, 40 was allegedly shot by Eric Allen Kirkpatrick, 61, who was recently laid off.  Banky was the CEO of TallGrass Distribution LTD., a health foods company, which laid off Kirpatrick on December 11th.  I’m guessing that he had worked for this company for many years and was nearing retirement, or whatever they call it in Canada, and he was let go.  Hell, I’d shoot him too.  Of all the employees you could have laid off, I’m the one? Right before the holidays? And I’m 61? Maybe he shouldn’t have interrupted the company Christmas party, because that does seem like he’s going to let off rounds in everyone.

I don’t agree with his violent approach to solving his unemployment problem, but I do understand his frustration. And I’m sure this won’t be the last of the tragedies that will sprout from many lost jobs. Think about this, he is 61, he probably has kids around college age or around the age where they get married.  He needs his income for things like that.  Not to mention retirement is approaching.  He isn’t going to get 4 years of unemployment pay. So now he and his wife (assuming he’s married ) will be forced to dig into their pension plans and other savings to finance their life. They will more than likely be forced to sell their home and move into more humble dwellings.

Violence increases in times of high unemployment. I can’t cite my source, but I remember learning about this in sociology.  People, down on their last resources, result to more primal reactions. I mean, think about it, most of their luxuries have been taken away. Livelihood is a thing of the past. It’s not really comforting to know that those around you are in the same boat.  You begin to work harder to protect the little that you do have and scenarios arise where you’re battling someone over the last pound of sugar in the grocers aisle.  These will not be easy times to get through, especially as states run out of resources to help their citizens.. and while the government continues to pour our tax dollars at failed companies and not actually back into the tax payers.

Papa ain’t no joke! Will kill for remote!

December 3, 2008

While we are on the topic of TV, this is something DVR could have prevented! OK, I’m joking with that because this is slightly sad :(

A 72-year-old New Jersey (not the man in photo) man stabbed his friend 28 times after she took the remote.  Now, when I first heard this story, I was at my desk at work and my co-worker said that aloud.  My initial response was, “what the hell, how can you not out maneuver a 72 year old, how old do you have to be.” Then she proceeded to tell me that the lady was 63.  So she was pretty old herself.  But let me say, my grandmother is 66 and she could dodge someone trying to stab her. She does not play that! I bet this was a blossoming romance that ended over a debate between People’s court or Judge Judy.  I feel sad for victims family, and even for the old man, he’s 73 and going to face jail time-at least 15 years for aggravated man-slaughter.  Damn, maybe he should be on People’s  Court pleading for a suspended sentence to an old people’s home.  I mean, he might have a mental illness, he said that he doesn’t remember stabbing her but that he knew he attacked her.  He could easily have dementia.  Damn, he probably forgot he was at her house, watching her TV and snapped.  You aren’t even safe at home anymore.

OMG!! Killer Power Ranger!!

November 7, 2008

Everyone remembers Power Rangers, right? I mean, hell, I loved the cheesey movie and used to rush home to watch the show.  And me and my friends would argue over who was the yellow ranger or who was the pink ranger.  I mean seriously, power rangers were the shit! Then there was the knockoff show VR troopers!! LOL.  Ahh, memories.  Well.  Personally I like my Power Rangers in the shows after life to continue on a do small guest cameos or even have stints on shows that didn’t work out, you know like how the Pink Ranger went on to play in Felicity? OR how the black guy did a few guest spots on Moesha.  Yes, that is how I like to remember my power rangers!

But this guy is defying my rules! How do you go from saving the world on TV to murder? Well.. I’m sure Skylar Deleon will write a tell all memoir once jail gets a little stale.  Skylar was found guilty last month of killing Tom and Jackie Hawks in 2004 by tying them to the anchor of their yacht and tossing them into the Pacific Ocean. He was also implicated in the 2003 murder of Jon Jarvi, whom he met on a work furlough plan while in prison. Seriously! Murder! UGH.. and his wife. She has a life sentence too.  He is giving power rangers every where a bad name! How dare he tanish such a great show’s memory!! Blasphemy!  Killer Ranger!

Hudson Family Tragedy

October 27, 2008

Wow. Just really fucking wow is all I can say to the recent tragedies that have happened to Jennifer Hudson. The loss of a mother, brother and nephew are tragic in solitude and combined together is a recipe for extreme disaster. If she’s never heard from again its understandable but still tragic because despite it all people would love to see her succeed. Especially for her lost loved ones. There has been so much talk about how she should have known to get out the hood once she got a little fame and fortune but so many are shunned upon for doing just that. Why should money equal a move to the burbs? She should uproot her family because she got fame now. And fame doesn’t alwyas equal riches. I’m sure American Idol has some serious contracts with her earnings. Why should she bear the burden of financing housing for her mother, brother, sister and so.  Her mother, yes that’s understandable and yeah you want to help everyone who’s been there for you out, but buying everyone a house in the burbs, or even having everyone live in your house is a bit much.  If I ever make it semi big of course I’ll make sure my grandmother lives comfortably, but if that wish is to stay in her senior citizen apartment who am I to deny that? I can make sure her rent is paid every month on time and she doesn’t worry.  We don’t know the situation there, and even then she shouldn’t have had to leave her home if that wasn’t her choice.  However  if this was truly a domestic disturbance, as most news agencies are reporting, then no matter how far they were from the “hood” it still would have happened. Violence is not condemned to the hood, that’s just where they report it from to perpetuate fear in the world.  Other people have said her sister should have known not to be with a thug, especially with a young son. But like Brittany Spears showed us, you can take the person out the environment, you can’t take the hood/trashiness out of

But no specific blame went to the accused. Granted, this is America, innocent until proven guilty, and I’d really hate for the wrong person to go to jail for this heinous crime.  Whoever is at fault, they need to realized that we, as humans, are not in the proper practice of deciding who’s lives to take.   I don’t care what the sister brother or son did why kill them all-and a child especially. Killing an innocent child is instant death penalty to me (and I’m not sure I even support death penality.) It shouldn’t be a life for a life, however he should be penalized for his lack of respect for human life.  THREE LIVES! Now this girl, and Jennifer Hudson,  has to live her life without a son, a mother or a brother. I’m not even close to my mother and I am an only child and I feel her pain. Loss is an emotion we can all sympathize with. J Hudson is probably sick of  people offering well wishes, especially people she doesn’t know, but I really hope she doesn’t fade into the background due to this. I really am hoping for her strength through these times. It’s not something you over come, but something that you learn to live with.  Each day without the person will be hard, sometimes gruesomely hard, but as her recent stroke of luck has shown she’s a star-so please continue to shine girl!

Hot for Hot Pockets

October 21, 2008

I remember those commercials where it would ask you what would you do for a Klondike bar.  They would have this crazy situations to see how far someone would go and at the end they’d get that wonderful ice cream with the chocolaty coating.  It’s not quite an ice cream sandwich but there is no other real word for it, but a Klondike.  Well, these brothers had their own version: What would you do for that Hot Pocket.

Well, apparently he’d stab his own brother for it.  Ok, lets imagine this scenario.  I go in the kitchen, I’m hungry and I see some hot pockets in the freezer.  Chicken Fajita, because that’s my favorite, and I bust that baby in there for about two minutes.  I take it out, I’m taking it out the new crisping sleeve and here comes big or little bro depending. And he’s like “Hey, gimme that pocket.” I’m like “pssh, please” and then we begin to wrestle for it.  So, in the heat of the moment, this hot pocket is the only thing that can attack these hunger pains so I reach over and grab a steak knife and stab you brother.  After we continue to wrestle for awhile I take the hot pocket and run because your crippled by the wound.  wow.  Just wow.  But like, don’t hot pockets come two in a box? Where was the other one. Where was HP2?

I don’t have any siblings so I know nothing about sibling rivalry.  It could have been that those were HIS hot pockets and bro just came along and rummaged them out. I’ve definitely  had that happen to me.  I think about it all day.  I’ll be at work thinking,” I”m going to go home and eat that last square of lasagna.” I’ll come home, ready for dinner and open the fridge and its gone.  someone got it.  I see the empty bowl in the sink and I’m like ‘”OH NO! I’ma kill ‘em!” But never have I actually wanted to draw blood over food.  NEVER! And I love food.  When I was younger I was like Mikey so I know all about love for food. And I know about having people come and take your food.  But drawing blood is just wrong.  How do you tell your parents?

“Johnny, why’d you stab Tim?”

“MOoommm! he tried to eat my hot pocket.” How is that acceptable? Why is this ok? Is this ok? At the time of the article the police had yet to find the uninjured brother nor determine the fate of the Hot Pocket.  Wait, maybe its for sale on ebay with baby Jesus’ face on it? He did show up on the grilled cheese! Remember that?

HBO’s True Blood

September 30, 2008

HBO’s new series True Blood stars Anna Paquin and a few other people who i don’t know, but so far its pretty good.  It’s based on a series of books by Charlaine HarrisI have watched all four episodes and each one has been pleasantly surprising. My friend says that the way they use the metaphor of vampires and humans is reminiscent of blacks and whites after the Civil War with the central idea of assimilation.  She said that every time they say vampires she replaces it with the N word.  Sometimes, it really does seem interchangeable.
I like the show because, well, I just like it.  I don’t have a thing for vamps because I hated Buffy the Vampire Slayer so it can’t be inherent.  True Blood takes place in Bon Temps, Louisiana and they have the WORST accents on this show.  Especially the black chick.  She’s the lead character from “How She Moves,” which I never saw.  She is sort of stereotypical in the show-angry black chick with deep seeded issues stemming from a childhood with a drunk mother to loneliness issues.  However, her character is obsessed with knowledge and reads on things from medical issues to the law and justice system.  Either way her character can be slightly annoying but entertaining and vulnerable.  We all love a little vulnerability.  I know I do.

I do have questions about this show. Only read on if you don’t mind slight spoiling if you haven’t seen it.  How did she become telepathic.  What crossed in her genes.  Her being Anna Paquin, Sookie is her characters name.  She is the main human character of the show.  she is slightly eccentric being that she hears others thoughts.  So of course the old country folk think she’s a “retard” on a count of the fact that she think she a psychic and all [/end sarcasm] LOL.  She has an affection for the new vampire in town, the first that they know of in Bon Temps.  Everyone thinks she’s going to get herself in some sort of trouble, especially with random killings going on.  Sookie’s brother, Jason, is dumb as a box of rocks.  He somehow keeps being a murder suspect… wonder where this is going. I personally think eventually he will become a vampire.  Those are just my thoughts stemming from his activities and his anti-vampire prejudices.

Overall, I plan to continue watching this show and seeing where it goes.  I heard it already got renewed for a second season and they are only 5 episodes into the first season.  HBO generally has shows that have a cult like following-The Wire, The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Carnival was an HBO show right? Oz was big too.  I will continue to watch without getting my hopes up too high.  Although Anna Paquin is someone I think has good acting potential I’m not so sure of her believeability in this role.  Stay tuned…

North Jersey Ninjas

August 22, 2008

I am going to dub this duo the “North Jersey Ninjas” since Shinobi Warriors doesn’t work for me.  I wonder if they received training watching Ninja Warrior on TV? That show really tests people physical strength.  Anyhoo, here we have two ‘modern day’ ninjas, Tadieusz Tertikiewicz and Jesse Trojaniak, of Clifton, NJ.  Side note, despite what people say New Jersey is a pretty damn popular state.  It is mentioned in damn near every movie and we produce many great talents, none of which include these two. The mission of the North Jersey Ninjas is to rid the area of drug users and dealers because they feel it is their destiny to stop their “impure activities.” Talk about a “war on drugs.” These two prepared letters to leave at the houses of individuals they singled out, what measures they used to single them out, who knows.  The letters stated”

“Shinobi will stop your cruel and sadistic intentions with justified yet merciful force.”

One of these letters had been delivered to the 16-year-old girlfriend of 20-year-old Tertkiewicz.  I guess he dumped her because he wasn’t fond of her weed problem.  I wonder if they have a problem with alcohol abuse because that can be pretty vile and sadistic.  Drunks are usually more violent than crackies.  Anyway, the North Jersey Ninjas have been apprehended and charged with weapons possession and Tertkie was charged with harassment too for sending his ex that letter I guess.

Its weird to have a modern day vigilante group who wants to stop people who have “committed the sin of passing impurity.” Who does uphold purity these days? Is it passing impurity for doctors to push perscription drugs for that’s that could be cured more  naturally? Isn’t it impure of the meat industry to inject the food we eat full of hormones and then abuse the animals? Or to douse our produce with insecticides? Isn’t war impure? I mean, seriously, Ninja Vigilantes with a vendetta against drugs of all things! Its not like drugs aren’t a huge problem, but I don’t think threatening drug dealers is the way to get them to stop.  They also stated in the letters, “wind guides us to those of impure heart and intent.” I wonder if they were guided in the direction of President Bush? Did they mail him a letter to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue  because I know his heart is impure.  What is up with all these crazy groups-you have the Westboro Baptist Church making a statement against Bernie Mac’s funeral all in the name of Christ.  I thought the last vigilante group was the Klan, but even they are making a comeback.  Well people, you should just remember, “the road to hell was paved with good intentions.”

Granny’s Got a Gun!

August 20, 2008

Granny ain’t no joke!! I swear my grandmother would do something like this! This here is Leda Smith of Point Marion, PA and she don’t play. Leda was home chilling, probably watching reruns of Golden Girls on Lifetime or Judge Judy when someone broke into her house. So Leda went and got her gun(a .22 caliber revolver), which she had because there had been a string of robberies in her area, and busted that two-bit burglar. Wait! It doesn’t stop there! She then forced HIM to call the police while she kept him in her sights! She said, “I said, ‘what are you doing in my house?’ He just kept saying he didn’t do it.” Yeah, you didn’t do it, but yet you’re here underneath the head of my gun. I’m sure Leda fell for that one. The kid who did it was 17, this is what every teen delinquent needs-some hardcore old lady punishment. This particular kid will be facing criminal charges for attempted burglary and related offenses in juvenile court.

I can just picture this scene in my head. (this is how it goes, there is not truth here that I know of)

Leda in her floral armchair hears a noise upstairs in a room. She walks to her bedroom and grabs her gun, and rolls up on him real soft like. She points the gun at his head and says, “What are you doing in my house.” He freezes and holds his hands up and kinda whimpers, “I’m sorry.” So Leda then proceeds to tell him, get on the floor. And he drops to the floor lying on his stomach. And she takes her Dr. Scholls and then kicks his legs apart and kinda has him laying there eagle style. She then reaches for her nearest phone and hands him the phone. “Call 911.”

“Lady, I’m sorry can I please just go.”

“Boy you better to me, I said call.”

“Please, I didn’t do it. I swear it wasn’t me.”

She kicks him in the groin, “Call!”

“I’m sorry,” he says while crying.

Granny then holds the gun still on him while he tells the dispatchers what the situation is while crying. When they get there she tells them, “It was exciting. I felt like I was in a Chuck Norris movie.” Ok, she didn’t really say that, but she did say it was exciting.

Teachers and handguns . . .

August 16, 2008

So I concocted this little picture using MSPaint because my Adobe PhotoShop skills are lacking. I really need a tutor, LOL. But I concocted this picture because only in crazy ass Texas could something like this happen.  A small Texas town has reached the decision that their staff of 50 can carry handguns in their school district which caters to 110 students.  Now… my problem with this is that this is a school district with a high faculty to student ratio.  Violence usually happens in larger districts where the teacher:student ratio is something like 1:32, where students don’t feel connected to those around them.  Not to say that students in this hick town won’t feel alienated, because that’s just a part of growing up.  But who would knowingly send their children to a school where handguns are the norm for teachers and staff?

I feel that handguns are asking for trouble.  Almost all officials who carry guns abuse them.  Cops are notorious for overzealous shooting.  I would be more accepting if corporal punishment was reinstated, because thats what most of these kids need these days, a good ole’ ass whooping!!When I was younger, my grandmother made it a point to tell all my teachers that they had her permission if I ever acted up to whoop my ass.  Now, none of my teachers ever took her up on it and that did not mean that I never “acted up.” For example:  When I was in fourth grade I had an incident with my teacher, her name was Mrs. M.  Mrs. M and I had a shaky relationship all school year.  So one day, I guess i was feeling rather jumpy and I jumped bad with her.  All I remember is being led in a headlock down the stairs to the principals office.  I remember her pinching my arms and me swinging trying to get out the headlock, but she had a tight grip.  So not only was i embarrassed in front of a group of my peers (and these are people whom I would see forever, as i grew up in a very small town), I also was going to get an ass whooping when I got home.  Which I did, and I was on punishment.  In addition to that, I had to spend like two weeks in another class with other bad kids so I wouldn’t fall behind in my coursework.  Mrs. M never had any other problems with me.  And when I got older I would go back and visit her shoot the shit.  I think she still teaches, but not at the same school because that school got closed for asbestos. The point of that anectdote was to say that teachers need to have other rights reinstated before schools resort to the most exterme- guns.  Seriously people!

Say no to handguns in schools… that’s all I’m saying.
