I have constantly been dealing with food and weight struggles. Just take a look here, here, here, oh here.. and even here on this site at my post that chronicle as far back as 2008 to see how often the topic of weight or diet or health coms into the discussion? How many New Years Resolutions have centered about bettering my health and hopeful wellness?? When will it ever end? It's easy to say its more about lifestyle changes, consistency, and all the standard rhetoric that comes along with it. This time around, I'm working extremely had at  being committed to my goals by being vocal about my goals to anyone who will listen. I have gotten my network involved by being vocal because it forces them to respect my…

They Shoot Single People, Don’t they?

Before I start, I think I've decided to start using SATC episode titles to title my blog posts... they seem to fit everything. I hope I don't get sued. Onward to the topic at hand ... There are many things right now that I am wholly uninterested in. Currently, I have no interest in first dates and getting to know you. The idea of asking those questions like, "who you be with? What ya interest are? Things that make you smile and what numbers to dial," make me want to bury my head in a groundhog fashion. I just feel completely disinterested in the whole process. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely want to end my single status, but at what cost? I've signed up for freeonline dating sites before, and…

In an effort to really show that I'm serious about my future, I've taken to reading some dating books. I mean, clearly I need to do something different if I want new results. I had "Finding a Man Worth Keeping" on my bookshelf for years, but never opened it. Over the past month I've gotten about 4 chapters in. Even though its weird at first, I like that the author has you do some self-evaluation and assessments. Its sort of an "interactive" book in the way A Purpose Driven Life is. So once a week, I sit down with my notebook and see whats next. I admit, the past week or two I haven't been as diligent, because I'm not quite sure how ready for dating I am. But whose…

Yoga is new to me and of course being the crazy person I am I started with Bikram (or hot yoga depending on who you ask) , and I'm learning to will and focus my body but how can I will and focus my mind? I tend to be someone who charges forward with new things or just whatever my current interest is, maybe it's the Gemini in me. But the problem with charging full steam ahead is I run out of fumes too early. Or I lack true preparation skills and forward thinking. I know that I have trouble with accountability when it comes to holding myself accountable, which is why this week I was able to skip the gym entirely. Not the best idea when you want to train…

I have this bad habit of starting a post, walking away because my thoughts don't feel complete and then an undisclosed amount of time passes so I no longer remember my original train of thinking ... #fail. Anyway... I hope this still makes sense " There is peace in knowing and the needing to guess where I stand. Not having to resort to decoding inference and weigh actions in relation to silence. Not having to devote any time to wondering and waiting, freed to devote myself wholly to wanting." -- Ladidahdi of Liquor,  Loans, and Love Recently I woke up feeling as though I was being tested due to recent circumstances where someone from my past was continually reaching out trying to touch me. Even though I didn't outright reject…

On my makeshift desk I found a list titled "What Have I Learned This Year;" judging from the other notes on this torn notebook page it was written sometime in March or April because it references my Capstone opportunity. The list reads this verbatim 1. Your personality is yours. It is good, positive. Don't attempt to change it. 2. Confidence ---> you lack it must regain it. 3. Health is important but I don't work hard enough to maintain it. 4. You are smart in a way that you don't have to compare to others. 5. Stop comparing yourself. You won't eat, think, talk, sleep or do anything like others. Think for yourself. Be yourself. Challenge yourself. What are your hobbies? How well do you know yourself. This note was…

I was driving down a construction road where two lanes were broken down to one. I was stuck behind a Jeep Cherokee while it was dark outside and they were going about 40 miles per hour. All I could think about was how bad I wanted to get away from this car. When the lanes finally opened anger washed over me as I realized there was nothing in front of this car preventing them from driving faster. I began to wonder why it bothered me so much and faced the realization that I felt trapped. I had no where else to go. As that thought lingered, I realized how in life I reject the idea of feeling trapped, by circumstances, money, space and even time. It might be why I…

Shrink Wrap: minimizing emotions

Someone told me I don't speak up for myself. Actually several people have told me I don't speak up for myself. This had led me to question what does that mean, both professionally and personally. Since this is the year (again) that im building my personal life and goals I will dive into that first. Personally, I feel that there is a part of me that's scared to be "too much" but I read a quote that said - you'll always be too much of something for someone: too big, too loud, too soft, too edgy. If you round out all your edges, you lose your edge. I feels like depending on where I'm at physically, I'm rounding out my edges to not be too much of whatever it is…

I wrote this post 9 days ago according to iNotes. I remember writing it on a plane and stopping because I was getting emotional. While that felt like months ago it was less than two weeks ago.  Days and nights seamlessly merge without much distinction or distraction, not always a bad thing to feel as if your on a continuum, unless you revel in change and growth, as I often do. Anyway, the actual post ... I've missed the space where I felt I could truly be the person I imagine myself to be. That space is here on your screen behind the guise of Wordpress. I've been away from my site and my notebook for far too long, long enough where I can't even fathom calling myself a blogger, writer or…

In the City of Sex …

NO! Not that kind of Sex .. IDK that title just sort of came out when I went to type in the title field. .. usually titles are so hard to come up with for me, but sometimes they just flow.. So anywho .. I spent the last weekend of September on my couch watching the first half of Season Six Part 1, all part two and the first Sex and the City movie. And as I was going to bed tonight, I was thinking about how no matter how many times I watch it, I never grow to love Jennifer Hudson's character. That all you remember about her was her bad country accent and city naiveté she represents. Then it hit me. The characters from sex and the city, the people they interact…

6 week Challenge. That's what we called it. A chance to revamp something in your life that you wanted to do. Health? Jump Start it. Clutter? Get rid of it. Me and a group of friends did it. Did we succeed? My challenges during the 6 weeks were to 1. Focus on clean eating. 2. De-clutter my closets. 3. Try to be more organized 4. Be the person you want to be. How did I fare? Clean Eating was really about eliminating meat. And juicing. It started off good. Juicing before work in the AM. I'd prepare a green juice with lots of leafy greens before work. I'd get to my desk and have a ginger tea and water and then my juice. Having one juice a day wasn't too…

I've decided to begin sharing outfits I've worn when I feel fantabulous! Here is something I wore a few weeks ago. I got the body suit at asos.com back before my trip to the left coast but didn't wear it. I'm not sure if you guys know this but I have a love affair with sheer. The bottoms are BDG jeans from Urban Outfitters. Let me say that their jeans are the best discovery. I never shopped in UO because I assumed they don't make clothes to fit me. WRONG. (my size issues are a whole different post) . I picked up a pair of their shorts while inVegas and loved.. So when I was in their 14th street location in NYC browsing the clearance section I grabbed a pair…

NEWSFLASH: YOu do not get my friendship as a consolation prize. What I mean by this is you (particularly a man) who may have been interested in dating are not allowed to keep talking to me every day on the basis of "I thought we were friend" if either myself or you are not interested in the other person any longer. Back Story. SO a few months ago my friend pressured me to join an online dating site. And I did it, reluctantly. I exchanged numbers with a few people and I met a few people. Maybe I will share some stories. This "friendship" person.. was someone I exchanged numbers with. We talked on the phone a few times and had great conversation. We talked about things from television shows…

DIY GOODNESS : NAIL POLISH RACK

The past few weeks I'd been wanting to buy a stand or some sort of org anizer for my polish .. being sick of them tossed in a tupperware container haphazardly. It was frustrating trying to remember and keep up with all the polishes I had. I had seen blogs where people used acrylic shoe storage containers and thought, "wow, what a good idea" but something about it wasn't for me. Then at the nail salon, I saw one of those cool rotating stands and was like yeah... I want that.. Too bad online they cost like $70 .. so I decided let me try to make on myself. Being a student of Google College at YouTube University, I quickly put my search skills to use. The first video I came across…

The revamping and modernization of Fairy Tales is all the rage these days .. from TV series, to movies, to books we have been flooded recently with the "new" fairy tales. So one day when  my jobs "mobile library" came around I grabbed the cutest "Fairy Fashion Tale Memoir" titled Christian Lacroix and the Tale of Sleeping Beauty. It's written by Camilla Morton and illustrated by Christian Lacroix himself. It is a cute book that interweaves Christian's biography with the tale of SleepingBeauty. Peep the photos.
