Review: Shoe Addicts Anonymous

Fashionable, Lifestyle
I picked up this book in the train station, Shoe Addicts Anonymous, because I was done reading my current book on the ride to the city.  If I had one word to describe this book it would be... FLUFF! I'm an avid fiction reader, but sometimes fiction still makes you think and ponder the possibilities.  There was none of that here for me.  It was an easy read.  I bought it on Monday evening, was done Saturday night and didn't even read some every day.  The gist of the story is that there are four people who have a club dedicated to swapping shoes.  The idea started with Lorna, who is so deep in credit card debt that she needs to consolidate.  She works as a waitress and lives in…

Disaster Strikes!

W hen bad things happen to shoes its never a pretty sight. Here I was this morning thinking of how I have a nice amount of winter shoes.  But boy was I wrong. I'm at work when my cheap ass Bakers boots broke (AGAIN!).  So, since I was now down one good pair of shoes I decided to do some shoe shopping online. Black boots are essential to a winter wardrobe, so I had to replace mine with the quickness. On my search I found this disaster. OMG. I almost cried because this is just shoe torture! Brand = J.Shoes, Motto: Do the Jay Walk. LOL. Model:  TARA. Do the Jay Walk is a cute slogan/motto, but these shoes are just an abomination. And they have the nerve to be…

Flashback: Balenciaga Lego Shoes

Flashback: Balenciaga Lego Shoes

Fashionable
This shoe made its debut at the Balenciaga Fall/Spring fashion week 2007. I got the idea to feature a "flashback" shoe from talking to my bestest when I told her I was doing shoe research for my blog, LOL. I don't know the official name of this show, so we'll just say the LEGO shoe. Worn here with this ugly grey sock, they are just wrong, wrong, WRONG! Why would you wear this gorgeous shoe with with track pants and sweat socks? The were worn in a much better fashion by Beyonce at the American Music Awards a few months ago. Her jeans are awesome, the jacket tight, and she wore the shoes perfectly. It's all in the detailing, and she shows how a shoe can really pull an outfit…

A Step Up: CoCo Edition

Fashionable
Dear Coco, I'd like to first commend you for not showing us you're camel this time. I am thoroughly impressed with your efforts to look classier and not trashier. I know it hurt. These baby steps you're taking are wonderful. One day, hopefully soon, we can achieve the beauty and glamor that are necessary for a celebrity wife. Wait, is Ice-T a real celebrity still? Ok, sorry for the little interruption. Now, let's proceed. I am loving your shoes. they work with this dress. Although the dress is skin tight and probably made of Lycra and spandex and came from your local Easy Pickings it is better than bright pink pants. Coupled with these WONDERFUL shoes, you look a little....trampish I must say.But not in a sleezy hotel kinda way…

An Old Friend

Fashionable
When you find a good pair of shoes you should love them.  Care for them.  In fact, you should buy two pair! LOL.  I had this pair last spring and I loved them so much that I wore them out. I mean wore them OUT! I tried to get the nice suede material cleaned, but it wasn't the same.  So, I did what any shoe lover would do-bought a new pair.   This is why I love the internet, because I would have had to search store after store after store after warehouse to try to find these shoes, let alone in my size since they were from last season. I had to first find out the shoe name, because I didn't even know it. I just knew the brand, so…

The “New” American Crisis

The “New” American Crisis

Fashionable, Mis-Adventures
Where did the money go? Isn't that the wonderful question plaguing us all in this "economical crisis" that the US is in? My question is slightly different, where are we getting the money is  my question.  Supposedly we are in a 5 trillion dollar deficit.   So where is the federal government getting these billions of dollars to "lend" the huge companies that are going bankrupt.  Where? Check it. Me and a friend are talking and we're like isn't it a little ass backwards to give the kapoot mortgage/loan companies money versus giving the public the money to be able to pay them back.  Isn't that what should be a focus? Why is this acceptable? I don't understand.  It's almost as if the powers that be got together and said, "Yes,…

Essential Boot

Fashionable
Wellington Boots. I didn't even know what they were called, I used to refer to them as rain boots, but now that I know their name I can talk about them.   I used to hate these boots.  They came out of nowhere and then they  were everywhere in the blink of an eye.  But now, after so many bouts with cold wet feet, I see the essentialness of them and have said I can't wait to find myself a pair.  I can't believe I made such a drastic turn around, the next thing you know I'll be saying how the UGG boot is cool and cute (someone stop me if I ever get there, but you get my drift). My dilemma is that each and every time I find…

The New Fashion Police

Fashionable
I know I'm very late with this, but it doesn't mean its not still worth talking about.  I remember a few weeks ago I read a story about how in Flint, Michigan they were putting a ban on sagging pants.  I thought this was bogus and a bunch of straight cock-a-mammy bullcrap. I hate to see a young man with his pants hanging super low as much as the next person however I do not feel that it should be against the law.  This "law" is a direct assault on what many people deem "hip-hop" culture.  And this is a tragedy because more and more "hip-hop" culture is becoming "mainstream" culture.  but I guess the powers that be don't like that too much. So, I was slightly elated to read…

Nine West, Elegy.

Remember back when Tim Allen had that show Home Improvement and his show inside the show was called "Tool Time?" And Al was his co-star.  I never watch Home Improvement on Nick @ Nite because I'm upset they don't show A Different World but I do sometimes watch Family Matters... and maybe Roseanne.  I love  Roseanne's family's white trash-ness. She loves it.  I love it because that was a real white family from the midwest-they weren't all wholesome or cheesy.  They had real fights and real issues. Granted some characters were extremes (Sandra Bernhardt's Nancy) but they dealt with real personalities in my opinion. I don't want to bore you with memories of my Nick @ Nite adventures, I wanted to show the world my newest shoe obsession.  In case…

I spy a fire crotch: CoCo is that you?

Fashionable
Dear Coco, Why can  I see the lips of your camel? You are epitomizing the term "fire crotch." Didn't your doctor ever tell you that when you wear jeans too tight you increase your chances for vaginal infections.  I feel so dirty just looking at these pics, I never want to be this close to another woman's slit... Please... let some extra fabric into your life.  And why bright ass pink bell bottoms.  I mean, did you somehow invent a time travel machine and were on a 'trip' in the 70s.  If so, please share your invention with the masses. My dearest Coco, where are you anyhow? I always knew that Mr. CoCo, I mean Ice-T bragged about him being a P-I-M-P but shouldn't you be sold to better hotels…

An introduction is necessary: Slasssh

I don't know if everyone knows, but I have an addiction: to shoes.  Preferably, heels that are 4 inches or better.  Three and a half is nice, but four is wonderful.  Anyway, once upon a time in a land I call "internet heaven" I purchased a pair of shoes from Steve Madden online.  Ever since then they email me with new arrivals and clearance sales and the likes.  So when I checked the email today, I saw that they have these shoes available for pre-order.  I introduce you to SLASSSH.  At first I was like wtf, and open toe boot. but the more I looked at them I saw the potential - Me, in a skirt showing a little leg, hair blowing in the wind.  Oh yes, it was magic. …
