Why do we feel the need to be Politcally Correct?

I can't pretend I've been living under a rock for the past several weeks when in fact I have been quite tuned in to the mockery that has become of American Politics within the Republican Party.  I intently followed the Democratic convention and was quite impressed with the speeches I either watched or read online.  From Michelle Obama's introduction of her husband to Hilary Clinton's vow of "No way, no how, No McCain," and Obama's speech to end the convention.  I was inspired as a voter to see the unity that transpired there.  I mean who could forget the low blows that Hilary delivered in her race in the Primaries against Obama.  But in the end, if she believes in her party's beliefs she would have to support him, which…

The Time for Democracy is NOW!!

So, I joined a contest on one of my fellow blogger site, A Phone Sex LIfe, so now EVERYONE has to go vote for me. My entry is under the name of Desire. In the contest you had to "Describe the ultimate sexual experience that anyone would love." And I think I did pretty darn well... I haven't read the other entries, but I will. And even if you don't vote for me, which you should, at least vote for someone so that it makes it interesting!! p.s. I need to find some cute catchy ending phrase, like how on Gossip girl, she's always like "XOXO Gossip Girl." Damn... any ideas.. Maybe I'll hold a contest and we can vote on the best phrase .. Interesting idea .. I'll definitely…

Underage Drinking

Underage Drinking

Mis-Adventures
So yesterday on my daily scroll of CNN I came across an article about some colleges and universities that hope to change the legal drinking age to 18 from 21. I think this is a bad, bad, bad idea. So I spoke to some of my friends and got their opinions on it-surprisingly many of them supported the idea, for a number of reasons. Many of them said that sure, since people sneak and do it or because if you can vote you can drink. If you can enlist you can drink. The universities that support this idea feel that by lowering the drinking age they will reduce instances of binge drinking. I have a counter argument for each of those proposed reasons for supporting the reduction in the drinking…

Teachers and handguns . . .

Teachers and handguns . . .

So I concocted this little picture using MSPaint because my Adobe PhotoShop skills are lacking. I really need a tutor, LOL. But I concocted this picture because only in crazy ass Texas could something like this happen.  A small Texas town has reached the decision that their staff of 50 can carry handguns in their school district which caters to 110 students.  Now... my problem with this is that this is a school district with a high faculty to student ratio.  Violence usually happens in larger districts where the teacher:student ratio is something like 1:32, where students don't feel connected to those around them.  Not to say that students in this hick town won't feel alienated, because that's just a part of growing up.  But who would knowingly send their…

(Th)ink about it!

Mis-Adventures
**Image Removed** I was browsing online looking for some cool political cartoons because I saw one by the exit I usually use at my dreadful job. And in my online search I found this one, which made me laugh, which is what a comic strip should do or at least inspire thought. This one is drawn by Keith Knight and his strip is called (Th)ink. Its supposed to tackle the social and political issues impacting communities of color. Ok, cool, I thought he'd have some dope stuff. But i was a little disappointed in what he had on the site. I mean, don't get me wrong, I could see he was talented, but I just felt that he wasn't taking an original enough spin on things. But this one here,…

Who hates their job? Who hates working? I know I do, I hate work. This is no surprise because there are few people who actually enjoy work. But sometimes I just feel like my job actually makes me dumber! My job doesn't require any actual brain work, or so the kids would like to believe. As a "front counter" person they believe that all the power lies with "those in the back." Which, in part has some truth. I cannot do anything to your account that would benefit you. I can cancel your loans, but I can't add any funding because I don't get any.. However, sitting with "someone in the back" doesn't make your day any smoother. Fact is, I am giving you all the information you need. If…

Shrek! On Broadway!!

Mis-Adventures
So, I'm browsing one of my favorite blogs, dlisted.com, which btw I need to add to my blogroll, and I see him write that they are turning Shrek into a musical. I cannot believe this B.S... Is creativity really that dry in Hollywoodland that they keep recycling ideas.. I thought they were pushing it with Legally Blonde, I mean that crap has a Broadway show which spawned a reality show on MTV... WTF!!! I am so disappointed with the state of entertainment right now. Who would have thought that Shrek would have made it to Broadway. Can you think of how hot it must be to dress up like an Ogre every night??? Can you imagine what that makeup does to someone's skin?? The lucky actor who plays Shrek is…
